Did you get your router working correctly? If so, wanna race some tonight? btw, it may not be your router, the online servers were having problems last night due to the sudden influx of people. I was able to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi alright, but it just couldn't locate anyone to play against.


btw if games of this calibur continue to be released, I am convinced it will seal the fate of the PSP... I haven't been this impressed with a game since POP: Sands of Time.

^That was my first complaint. And I was frustrated that I couldn't change the acceleration from A to Y so my thumb wouldnt be twisted down all the time. But the game itself is just too addictive for me to stop, so I got over it and now I'm used to it.

You can never play as any of the light characters online, they are way too slow. I made the mistake of playing as Dry Bones yesterday and lost every race, whereas when I played as Luigi it was no problem. I am still debating whether I like Wario or Luigi better. btw, when you are selecting the kart to use, what does the "items" bar mean? Is that the probability of receiving a good item? (I still haven't gotten a single bullet bill!)

Yes, the items rating increases the odds of you getting a good item. If you're in first you are more likely to get bob-ombs but you still probably won't get a bullet bill unless you're further in back.

those are insane records. sometimes luck dictates you lose, so i dont know how you keep that type of record up. How do you maintain that speed? power sliding/dashing everywhere?

im 10-13 and i thought i was good. but alas no, everyone of my friends i play with (shacknews) is f'n tough.

I power slide in every turn where you can squeeze one in...sometime twice. In figure 8 i powerslide about 6 times in each turn. Other than that it's just item placement and luck + knowing shortcuts. Also, when you get hit from behind, try to get position so you can draft the player that is about to pass you, therefore accelerating much faster than you usually would have.

I'm going to play a few races in a minute if anyone would care to join me. Although Luigi seems like the only good character, I'm sure some of the unlocks will be just as good. Yoshi has given me a run for my money every now and then. Has anyone else noticed something... while racing (usually when bumping or near opponents) I will suddenly get a burst of speed (the speedlines will show up) and I will suddenly go way ahead of everyone. It is kinda like a do a power slide but without holding down R or going around any corners.

yeah, that's the drafting system a couple people have mentioned.

my biggest problem is that the computer players always get blue shells once I get any kind of lead. It's not as noticeable in 100/150cc, but when I was clearing out the 50cc cups I was getting 1 or 2 blues shells every lap.

Did you see my name when you registered my number? The lock thing is so that you don't accidently erase friend numbers. There is some info about it in the game instruction booklet.

im actually having some problems getting on at the moment. i also just realized that you get a W for every person you beat...so if you win a 4 player race and everyone stays, that's another 3 in the win column. Not sure if losses work the same way, like if you come in last do you get 3 losses. I dont know cuz i've never come in any further back than second.

I'm really impressed with the new tracks in this game. It makes Mario Kart: DD and 64's tracks look like crap. It looks like they put a lot of effort into making each track unique.

And Luigi kicks ass.
