You do you feel Obama should select as his running mate and why?
or
Who should he not select and why not?

Nancy Pelosi.

She just seems like a smart... god I can't even finish typing that. I have no idea though.

He should not select Hillary because there is too much bad blood between the 2 and their supporters. After all his "time for change" rhetoric, it would look hypocritical to pick the kind of Washington insider that he's been blasting over the last 4 months.

Ted Strickland: Ohio Governor. He's got executive experience to balance Obama's legislative experience and as a Hillary supporter that could help bring the party together. And Ohio is definitely a swing state.

Kathleen Sebelius: Kansas Governor. A red state governor with executive experience and a strong history of bringing red's & blue's together and as a strong women could help bring over some Hillary supporters.

Those two would be strong balancing forces. But I don't think he'll pick either of them.

I think he's going to stack his cabinet with big names from all across the party. Some former Clinton people, some new people, and probably Edwards and maybe Richardson. And I'm beginning to think he might pick Hillary because its the strongest message of healing he can send. Very few Obama supporters would see her as a first choice, including myself, but if he makes can make it into a message of healing the party and then healing the country rather than a washington insider vs outsider then I could see him going that route.

My personal taste would be Obama-Edwards 08, but I'd still vote for an Obama-Hillary ticket if they had the right balance of advisers, cabinet members, and other officials.

the last thing we need is to have Bill fucking Clinton back in the white house. like we need that kind of baggage with him fucking interns and shit. Plus, they might do some sort of Vincent Foster thing on Obama, he doesnt want them hanging around.

Obama needs to go this without her. the KS governor would be good. so would Richardson.

as for hillary, she should be given the post of Supreme Court Justice so she'll shut up already. Truthfully, though, I think she'd actually do a good job there.

A moderate with foreign policy experiance, preferably female.

Centrist Republican or former would be ideal.

What would be wrong with Clark- other than not popular with the base and he's old? Seems it would lessen the apparent lack of military know-how on the ticket, which some people consider all-important.

no, fuck placating the Republicans. they've done nothing but flush this country down the shitter. Democrats don't have to pander to them to get votes.

'Bama needs to pick someone who increases his voting base and can be an asset for supporting his weaknesses, i.e., foreign policy and executive experience. Richardson would be ideal in that area, though there are other problems with that pair-up

Hillary's a tough old bitch, and she needs to be handled smoothly so she doesnt turn her supporters bitter. but she would be a liability, i think, as a running mate. just give her a spot on SCOTUS and call it even.

EDIT: actually, Clarke ^ might not be so bad... i have to remember though... wasn't there something wrong with him, electability-wise?

If this was true at all, Kerry would have won in '04.

it doesn't really matter. he won't pull many swing votes, but McCain will. Obama is a charismatic dude that will appeal to the left-wing base of the Democratic party, but not to the center. McCain will mop the floor with him.

Bill Ritter?

Hasn't been governor of Colorado long, but he has experiance as a DA, is popular across party lines in his state, especially in rural areas, worked as a missionary in Zambia for two years - seems plausable.

^ I agree...if you look at the states that Democrats have to win....Obama dosent do well.

I still cannot believe he is the best candidate that the dems have.....

Zero international experience......barely any domestic experience, and hes as far left as they come.....Not the best way to pick up voters......DEMOCRATS, WAKE UP....YOUR PARTY HAS BEEN HIJACKED BY THE EXTREME LEFT. I THOUGHT THAT YOU WOULD HAVE LEARNED YOUR LESSON IN 2004 WITH KERRY.

Jim Webb, Secretary of the Navy under Reagan, Vietnam vet. Only person with substantial national security credentials to minimize McCain's advantage in this area. Currently Senator in Virginia.

^^^^^ For DNL, here are 16, mostly limited to Senators and Governors. I guess they are sort of ranked in order of liklihood, I havn't put a lot of thought into that.

2) Bill Nelson - Senator, former Governor, Nebraska
3) Bill Nelson - Senator, Florida
4) Evan Bayh - Senator, former Governor, Indiana
5) Bill Richardson
6) Wesley Clarke
7) Ted Strickland - Governor, Ohio
8) Hillary Clinton
9) John Edwards
10) Kathleen Sebelius - Governor, Kansas
11) Brian Schweitzer - Governor, Montana
12) Tom Carper - Senator, former Governor, Delaware
13) Bill Ritter - Governor - Colorado
14) Ben Cardin - Senator, Maryland
15) Byron Dorgan - Senator - North Dakota
16) Brad Henry - Governor - Oklahoma

2:1 odds it'll be Jim Webb or Brian Schweitzer

3:1 Kathleen Sebelius but probably not because Hillary will raise a stink if he picks a woman who is not her

sebelius or webb, but i'd rather it be sebelius - she eliminated the $1.1 billion deficit in kansas and she's got a lot of bipartisan and moderate appeal - her father-in-law is a republican congressman, and she appointed a bunch of republicans to her cabinet

webb seems kind of odd.. he wrote the screenplay for Rules of Engagement.

I am interested in

1) Michael Bloomberg

2) Allyson Schwartz

Both help with the Jewish vote. Bloomberg might also give a boost in Florida and with Business Republicans concerned about Obama's record on the economy. Schwartz might also give a boost in Pennsylvania.

Though it still seems that his best bet is Hillary Clinton and soon. Uniting with Clinton soon, he could play the "I want to be a Uniter. I want to bring everyone together no matter what. I am above all that" card. If he waits then it will look like Clinton is a more calculated choice.

Though I like Webb, I think only Hillary could have picked Webb. He has some serious problems with Women that would only magnify the pain of Hillary loosing to Obama.
