"China Space Mission Article Hits Web Hours Before Launch

Thursday , September 25, 2008

BEIJING —
A news story describing a successful launch of China's long-awaited space mission and including detailed dialogue between astronauts launched on the Internet Thursday, hours before the rocket had even left the ground.

The country's official news agency Xinhua posted the article on its Web site Thursday, and remained there for much of the day before it was taken down.

A staffer from the Xinhuanet.com Web site who answered the phone Thursday said the posting of the article was a "technical error" by a technician. The staffer refused to give his name as is common among Chinese officials.

The Shenzhou 7 mission, which will feature China's first-ever spacewalk, is set to launch Thursday from Jiuquan in northwestern China between 9:07 a.m. EDT and 10:27 p.m. EDT.

The arcticle, dated two days from now on Sept. 27, vividly described the rocket in flight, complete with a sharply detailed dialogue between the three astronauts.

Excerpts are below:

"After this order, signal lights all were switched on, various data show up on rows of screens, hundreds of technicians staring at the screens, without missing any slightest changes ...

'One minute to go!'

'Changjiang No.1 found the target!'...

"The firm voice of the controller broke the silence of the whole ship. Now, the target is captured 12 seconds ahead of the predicted time ...

'The air pressure in the cabin is normal!'

"Ten minutes later, the ship disappears below the horizon. Warm clapping and excited cheering breaks the night sky, echoing across the silent Pacific Ocean."

Its been known for a while that the government only controls all the media in china so this type of thing is no big suprise but what most people don't know is that during showtime of the apollo the us government was the only media source at hand.

I pose the question is that its much easier to believe we pulled off the trick of China is doing the same thing today (almost). They got exposed we didn't. Just an interesting.

China seems to be getting busted every time they try something stupid like this, the underage athletes, contaminated food, etc... If you're going to lie, at least do it well enough not to get caught.

Why stop doing it? Even when they get caught, they aren't punished for it.

Except for ABC,NBC, and CBS, who were present at the launch...along with thousands and thousands of other people.

the only sketch part is the "detailed dialogue." I don't think it's surprising at all that they would prepare a story like this

Hey, McCain accidentally released his ad declaring himself the winner before the debate even happened and had to pull it down (which was made greater by the fact that polls showed Obama to be the winner), so its not like this doesn't happen all over.

Writing up a news article in advance isn't too surprising, maybe they had planned to edit it if anything drastically different did happen... using specific never uttered quotes is a little sketch though.

Did you seriously just bring in McCain/Obama to this thread so you can slob over Obama's knob some more? gtfo

Having ads/T-shirts/etc pre-made isn't at all like fabricating a detailed news story about a major/historic event. And I doubt McCain wanted that ad (a small banner on a website ) released before the debate, it was a mistake made by the whoever runs the ads.

YOU'VE CONFIRMED THAT YOUR INTELLIGENCE LEVEL IS WELL BELOW AVERAGE.

ANY EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR CLAIMS? WHY FAKE LANDING THERE 6 TIMES? WHY FAKE ORBITING THE MOON SEVERAL OTHER TIMES? WHY FAKE APOLLO 13? WHY KILL 3 ASTRONAUTS IN APOLLO 1? WHY FAKE ALL OF THE ARTIFACTS BROUGHT BACK?
