It can be any topic for any type of speech....but for my sake please keep it to an informative or persuasive.

I kinda wanna do something not boring cause everyone always does a boring speech, I want it to be fun, and maybe even funny.

A few weeks ago I had to debate the con side of financial incentives for weight loss in the work place. It was the most heated/interesting of all the debates we had all semester, and I TOTALLY WON.

I can give you the info/research if you'd like.

Well I'm also looking for something that will be easy for me to whip up since it's due tomorrow! I normally write all my speeches the night before and I've gotten A's on all of them.

I'm kinda wanting to something on the benefits to being both a pirate and a mermaid.

^^Informative like giving information about anything. The first informative speech I did was what it is like to be a summer camp counselor. Other people did stuff like what smoking does to you and how to give cpr.

We could also do thank you speeches, only problem is it has to be at least 5 mins long. I don't have enough people to think to make it 5 mins long.

I've got it....I'm going to do it on murphy's law and use personal stories to back up my claim

nevermind that will be too time consuming, I'll have to do some research, I need to do something where no research is required.

How about do a speach on how softcore porn is really fucking stupid and a waste of every ones time. Real men, and women, watch the hard core stuff.

You can make this idea both informative and fun:

Sawahash's list of 5 life lessons learned (that everyone should learn) to this day. Make each one a minute long. Back it up with personal stories. What's easier to do than talk about yourself (and not have to do any research for)?

Okay this is what I've decided.....the benefits of being a pirate and a mermaid at the same time....

now I just have to come up with the points I'm going to make.

^or I could do that and I could make one of my life lessons I've learned that it's beneficial to being both a pirate and a mermaid.

2. the pirate fad is over

3. the mermaid fad was over in 89

and if you must talk about mermaids, talk about the The Little Mermaid castle controversy

well I think I need one more life lesson....so far I've done being impuslive is expensive and murphys law is real.

But I also have sub lessons on those....like I go into how I will spend money on randomly buying something for a new hobby I want to do or get at tattoo and even though some might consider that a flaw I've come to learn that my flaws are what makes me who I am and why my friends and family love me. So really the lesson I've learned is that I should enjoy who I am even with the quirks.
And the murphys law one I'm saying that yeah I might end up in a hole in the middle of a floor with a couch on top of me but I've learned through out the years that little speed bumps like that are things you look back on and laugh about. I don't let them throw me off course.

I'm always down for proofreading stuff, especially if you want help with grammar/language. You can PM it to me if you actually want someone to read the thing.

Well this isn't really something I'm doing for grammar and language. This is a speech that I'm doing that is more of a conversational type speech. Like I'm getting up in front of the class and telling a story. So if you read it it's going to be full of fragments and shit, so it would be an english teacher's worst nightmare.

But whenever I tell a story about myself, or I write it down or something I always make sure it's in the same way I would talk to someone as if I was telling them a story. I just think that it's something that keeps the story more like me. I know I will never be a writer, but if I was and I decided to write an autobiography it would be written just like if I was having a conversation with a friend and just telling them my life story. Haha, that point right there is why I would never be a good writer.

There's a distinct difference between speechwriting and essay writing, so there's a totally different style of proofreading. The offer still stands; I feel like if you've put yourself into it and have given it the style and convincingness that it needs, then the language follows that function.

Plus, it sounds like an interesting read

It's a commemorative

I think I'm going to open it up playing a newer song of theirs and say this is a band that everyone has heard of. Then play mmmbop to show who the band is.

Then I'm going to do shit like talk about how Bono said their music was genius...and talk about their talents as musicians and songwriters.

I'll also talk about their humanitarian work they do.

I'll probably show pictures!

I'll also wear my Hanson shirt.

I have really enjoyed not giving speeches that are just your normal run of the mill public speaking class speeches. My teacher and classmates have also told me they have enjoyed them.

eh, i only moderately liked the first one.

the rest are really slow or lack energy. also the first is a little more accessible if some of the listeners don't want a country sounding song.
