The new SIS system allows each department to decide if they want to have SIS enforce the catalog prereq. If the department decides yes, then to enroll you either need to have completed the prereq or you must be enrolled in the prereq class.
Thus, to know before fall registration starts, you should contact the department offering the course and ask their policy. 2/16/2010 5:32:08 PM |

if he's currently enrolled in the prereq, then it doesn't matter which way the dept does it. he can enroll either way.

my experience is that not all pre reqs are created equal. some i've had to do, some i've had waived, and some i had to do, but ended up doing them after the course for with they were pre-req 2/18/2010 2:36:15 AM |

I sent this note off to Reg&Recs ...
"I am taking in a class in the summer to meet a pre requisite for a class in the fall 2010. But the problem is I need to enroll in the fall class at the same time as the summer prereq. Will SIS allow me to enroll in the fall class?"
I received this answer ...
"It will not. SIS would recognize it if the course were already in progress. But if the student enrolls in both classes (summer class and fall class) before summer begins, SIS won't "see" it as having been met. The dept could override him into the fall class (override requisite)." 2/18/2010 9:39:51 AM |
