I noticed from reading the previous MF threads that a few of you have them.

Some of you may have read that I'm in the market for a
Tempurpedic Cloud Supreme (Split CA King).

We can use this thread for all MF topics, but the purpose if making it is to inquire about what type of frame/bed did you get?

I would like a platform-style frame, while understanding that we'll be buying the Tempurpedic foundation.

Anybody with experience would help.

i have one, tried it for a couple weeks and then moved it into the guest bedroom and switched back to my old mattress.

it was soft, but not as soft as my pillowtop mattress. Not that it was a big deal though. The big problem and definite deal breaker was that it traps so much damn heat i was waking up in the middle of the night sweating like crazy. Literally, i'd get up in the morning and look down and the sheets were soaked in my sweat from sleep. It does not breath at all and I couldn't handle it.

because it traps so much heat, it can absorb a lot of that sweat and crap right into the mattress easily and you obv can't wash it. It can cause the mattress to get mildewy and gross, so you need a cover sheet that won't allow any moisture through to the mattress itself. What I have is a mattress pad that is cotton on the top side, and a vinyl or plastic or something on the underside, and then you lay down the fitted sheet over that. It was just unbearable.

For people with backproblems that need extra support, i hope it works out for you, but if you don't have any sever back problems that require this bed, i wouldn't recommend it. I've never sweated so much during sleep in my life.

I have a queen Temp. Cloud (not sure if it's a "supreme" or not)

I have a platform bed, and I don't use a foundation (matress directly on frame). I was told you only need the foundation if you're using a traditional frame (it takes the place of boxspring).

I have had mine for a few years (always on the same platform frame) with no problems.

Okay...we went to The Dump today after church to look at sleigh beds to see how high the bed would be if we bought one. They had a bunch of nice bedroom sets (something we need REALLY BADLY), but none of them were in CA King size. So...after some discussion with the Missus, we are going to go with a Traditional King (if you want to know the difference, let me know).

With that, the options opened up tremendously. The TP, with the high-profile Foundation and Cloud Supreme ,is going to be 20" high. I asked the wife how she felt about having a bed that was as high as it was going to be (wouldn't be able to put my feet on the floor).

"Actually, having a bed that high is a turn-on."

Well...there we go!

We are going to get a set: a nice deep, dark brown sleigh bed, a high ten drawer dresser, two three drawer night stands, and maybe another six drawer dresser all for about $2000.

And then we are going to pay about $6000 for the bed and pillows.

Yeesh.

^ Just know that you will have to buy specific sheets that are made to fit that deep of a bed.

If it doesn't specify the depth on it, stay away from those sheets! Though, granted, you say height, but usually some memory foams have really big depths of the mattress!

Yeah. We may end up paying a lot extra for the TP sheets.

Also, the Cloud Supreme is 11" and we are getting the 9" foundation to make the bed...well...high.

in regard to the height of the bed, there are some things you may want to consider:

You say you can't put your feet on the floor when you sit on it.... Do you sit on the end of the bed ever (to get dressed, undressed, anything)? The whole "it's a turn on" thing is nice. But that will go out the window a lot sooner than any annoyance that may arise from the bed being too high. Of course, it may not be an issue at all.

Sex. seriously. depending on your height, standing on the floor with her on the bed in any position may not be an option if the bed is too high.

The only concern I have about bed height is my back. If it is too low to the ground, that could give me some back pain.

My grandmother bought some Tempurpedic beds, decided she didn't like them and pawned them off on my parents. I slept on one of them when I was home visiting and while at first it seemed great, I woke up hot throughout the night. Those foam pads keep you heated like crazy. And I woke up with terrible back pain most mornings. Think I'll sleep on the couch next time I'm over there.
