I'm really tired of the crappy battery life on my epic. unplugged it at 2p with 100% and now at 530 its at 40%. I've sent a few text and been on fb once. 1/31/2011 5:26:13 PM |

I am debating buying the sedio extended battery for my Epic, but I manage my power pretty well and I can probably make it to september with the stock battery. At that point, I will pay the 70 fee to upgrade early and be moving to either Moto or HTC (whatever looks good). While I love the epic, samsung and sprint's ability to keep software uptodate is horrendous and not worth dealing with 2/1/2011 11:28:44 AM |

yeah, samsung makes the best hardware but their software support is crap (at least in the US).

Juice Defender has done WONDERS for my DX battery life. Then again, I had a faulty battery that shipped with my phone so that combined with the app make things awesome. Basic battery lasts me around 16-20 hours with moderate use. 2/1/2011 1:00:04 PM |

Juice Defender DESTROYED my battery life.
So much so that my phone died in the middle of the night after having 90% remaining when I went to bed.
I've loaded the ApeX ROM and get easily 30 hours of moderate use. 2/1/2011 1:13:16 PM |

I just installed one of the CM7 nightlies and I must say, it's pretty badass so far. However, I'm kinda expecting it to just start randomly rebooting or drop calls or something pretty soon since its not a stable release. 2/1/2011 2:52:14 PM |

I'm amazed at how stable CM7 has been on my Aria. Only issues I've had since I put it on around build 9 was builds 15-17 or something like that had bad phone.apk files or something like that and force closed on call. Need to load 23 on my phone now, but 22 is incredibly fast, stable, and powerful 2/1/2011 2:56:37 PM |

just got the most current 2.3 gingerbread by aosp/cyanogenmod for my cdma hero (i know rockin it old school).
2.3 is a significant upgrade from 2.2
I would say (at least on this device) as big of an upgrade as 2.2 was from 2.1 2/1/2011 3:14:41 PM |

Ultimate Droid just rips off everyone else's shit. Cyanogen is nice and has a lot of nice bells and whistles but most are unneeded. Believe they've recently brought over the team behind the Sapphire rom for the OG Droid so that's a big plus. 2/1/2011 4:24:59 PM |

I'm have a nandroid of Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5 for whenever I want 4G but other than that, I'm using his Z Rom nightlies on my Evo
I'm waiting for CM7 + WiMax + Matted Blues to finish tweaking - cyanogen isn't involved in adding WiMax to his CM7 so he may not tweet about it but it's already had an alpha release that works. As soon as that's done, I'm switching over I think...Matted Blues and Myn's ROM are too sexy. Myn's gives me GREAT battery life too so we'll see how CM does. 2/1/2011 4:49:57 PM |

Cant decide whether to pull the trigger and get the Thunderbolt, or wait until June for the Droid Bionic.... I guess if I waited I could also see what Apple was planning on offering with the iphone5, but I think I'm set on getting a droid.
After watching that Thunderbolt unboxing video though, Im leaning towards picking it up instead of waiting. haha 2/1/2011 10:36:28 PM |

$500 for the Atrix laptop dock. They've effectively priced themselves out of competing with netbooks.
http://www.androidcentral.com/att-announces-atrix-4g-launch-details-199-contract- available-march-6-or-earlier-pre-order-feb-13
Quote : | "AT&T officially announced the launch details for the highly anticipated dual-core Motorola Atrix 4G -- and its gang of uber-cool accessories. Let's just break it down in bullet points, shall we?
The phone itself will cost $199 after rebate and two-year contract. Presales start Feb. 13, the phone will be available March 6 "or earlier." You have to have a minimum data service that costs $15 a month. The Atrix and Laptop Dock can be purchased as a package for $499.99 -- after contract and a $100 rebate. There's also an Entertainment Access Kit -- with the HD Multimedia Dock, a Blueooth keyboard and mouse, and remote control. That costs $199. The Laptop dock by itself costs $499.99. (Better to buy it with the phone.)" |

slightly relevant question to this thread
does anyone know of a way (or a program) you can use to boost the power output of a computer's USB port(s)? It SEEMS like my Droid charges a good bit faster from a wall outlet than my laptop's USB port, so I'm wondering if there are any ways to tweak the power output of the USB ports 2/4/2011 12:49:12 AM |

^^ why would you be pissed? What the hell were you expecting from a ridiculously equipped top-end handheld computer? And you guys must have been smoking crack if you thought the laptop-dock would have been priced anywhere near affordably. It's a specialty market gimmick through and through. Though I'm sure the Atrix itself will sell pretty damn well 2/4/2011 4:03:00 AM |

looks like Verizon will start compressing all data and throttling 3G speeds for users in the top 5% for data usage. http://support.vzw.com/terms/network_optimization.html
http://www.bgr.com/2011/02/03/verizon-wireless-to-begin-throttling-data-speeds-of-heaviest-users-optimizing-content-starts-today/
Quote : | "Verizon Wireless strives to provide customers the best experience when using our network, a shared resource among tens of millions of customers. To help achieve this, if you use an extraordinary amount of data and fall within the top 5% of Verizon Wireless data users we may reduce your data throughput speeds periodically for the remainder of your then current and immediately following billing cycle to ensure high quality network performance for other users at locations and times of peak demand. Our proactive management of the Verizon Wireless network is designed to ensure that the remaining 95% of data customers aren’t negatively affected by the inordinate data consumption of just a few users. " |
Quote : | "We are implementing optimization and transcoding technologies in our network to transmit data files in a more efficient manner to allow available network capacity to benefit the greatest number of users. These techniques include caching less data, using less capacity, and sizing the video more appropriately for the device. The optimization process is agnostic to the content itself and to the website that provides it. While we invest much effort to avoid changing text, image, and video files in the compression process and while any change to the file is likely to be indiscernible, the optimization process may minimally impact the appearance of the file as displayed on your device. For a further, more detailed explanation of these techniques, please visit http://www.verizonwireless.com/vzwoptimization." |

That motorola tablet is a good tablet OS (as honeycomb was designed for tablet use) with the latest hardware, of course it's gonna be pricey. If you wanna go a less conventional route to save money i'm sure someone gets AOSP honeycomb working on say the Galaxy Tab or the Viewsonic G-Tablet. The latter is getting cyanogenmod 7 support.]2/7/2011 12:36:37 AM |

at the homescreen hit the Menu button and go to Add...select Motorola Widgets...then select Contact quick tasks...afaik you can't edit or modify existing quick task widgets, but you can just drag them to the trashcan and create new ones2/7/2011 10:50:40 AM |
