does anyone else here use craigsnotifica for craigslist notifications?

i feel like I've been getting spam text messages from them...does that happen, or is it from somewhere else? starting to get pissed.

The rate of advancement on this shit is killing me, I've been up for a phone upgrade for about a year since my last contract ran out and I keep putting it off whenever I hear about the new latest greatest phone

anyone use the "Sleep-as-an-droid" app?

it serves as an alarm clock, but logs your sleep pattern with the accelerometer....you just have to have your phone set on your bed (kinda tricky to figure out a spot for it w/ the charge cable length)

here's what it logged for my overnight last night:

ha, I tried it the other night and I must toss and turn like a bitch. That or the dog can't be still because it was all over the place. I'll post it if I ever get my phone running again.

I started using it 2 nights ago. I've had sleep issues for the last 4-5 years and thought it'd be interesting to see what it picks up. I'm hoping it's buggy cause it's a lot worse than I thought if it's accurate. It shows a pretty bad spike once an hour or so. It did wake me up at a good time this morning though so I'm going to keep trying it to see if it changes any.

I've been using the Sleep As Android app for a few weeks now

Doesn't work too well since my cat like to jump on the bed in the middle of the night and start scratching herself :\

Variable alarm time is a bit weird getting used to, also

[Edited on February 17, 2011 at 8:58 AM. Reason : I don't pay much attention to the charts, but having a record of my sleep times is pretty neat]

and the plot thickens
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-releases-source-epic-4g-eb13-froyo-update

Quote :
"Samsung has placed the open source portions of the rumored EB13 Froyo update for the Epic 4G live on their open source page. While this isn't something you can jump in and flash, it makes it pretty certain that rooted users will see the "official" Froyo before Sprint gets it out, supposedly on Feb 21.

It also gives developers a solid base to begin work for custom ROMs that needed newer code and drivers, and should really help with the creation of an AOSP style Froyo, and possibly Gingerbread ROM for the Epic 4G. If you're a developer, or just want to have a look, point your web browser to the source link, choose the Mobile phone section, and search for D700 in the search bar. Big thanks to Samsung for getting this out pre-release and honoring the GPL. [Samsung's Open Source Release Center] Thanks everyone who sent this in!"

it's unknown if the bootloader is encrypted yet. all motorola android devices thus far have been TI based, this is nvidia and has different encrypt functions (that aren't totally baked/asymmetric). the sdk has a function to reset the encryption key, if set by the manufacturer, to all 0's until reboot. seems promising to have custom roms by the time motorola abandons the platform and kernel updates stop.

[Edited on February 19, 2011 at 6:30 PM. Reason : it is signed, but not encrypted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11483479&postcount=7]

They have custom roms. Think they're just more limited in terms of custom kernels, etc. TMy next device will be HTC since there seems to be a bigger development following and Blur sucking ass unless the Samsung-XDA thing actually gets somewhere.

I use PhoneMyPC and it works pretty well. I used logmein ignition briefly when it was in beta but I had already purchased PhoneMyPC for 9.99 and a much better buy than $30 for ignition.

yeah, I'm ready to write it off. This has been about the biggest cluster of an expected launch ever. Still can't figure out why they're so secretive on lte prices either.

and oh shit, AT&T is pissed

http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/02/20/att-consolidating-handset-retail-channels-no-more-third-party-discounts-for-you/
Quote :
"AT&T Consolidating Handset Retail Channels – No More Third-Party Discounts For You
Posted by Brian O'Toole in AT&T, Deals, News

The state of North American cellular contract plans might be something that makes Europeans shake their heads in disbelief, but when it comes to phone pricing, Americans have always had it pretty good. Hand over your soul for two years, get Phone X for free (after MIR). Well, it looks like AT&T doesn’t think that’s the best way to go. No, that doesn’t mean cheaper tariffs; don’t be silly. Instead, it means more expensive phones, of course! AT&T has just about had enough with the likes of Wirefly and Let’s Talk offering their phones for free, when they could be making $200 on them via their own retail stores.

As a result, AT&T handsets will, from March 8th onwards, only be vendible in official AT&T brick-and-mortar stores or on the carrier’s website. That means farewell to Walmart and Radio Shack, and straight to your AT&T local if you’re looking to pick up our recently-reviewed HTC Inspire 4G. It’s an interesting tactic from AT&T, and one that is surely a defensive move in the light of a certain exclusive’s lapse."

^ I am not sure I believe all of that. I could see them cutting off some of the websites but they could not survive without their indirect sales channel (privately run stores and kiosks; walmart; best buy)

After reading the article it looks like it only applies to online storefronts, not actual resellers with a physical storefront.
