Random question. After some googling I can't find a straight answer for AT&T or Atrix-specific. I've been attempting to MMS pictures that I've taken with the phone to people & none have worked. It looks like its always "pending," and then about an hour later I get a notification that it failed to send. By pending I mean when viewing the text, the picture & caption are in the thread with the recipient, but there's always a green arrow icon in the message, then once it fails the icon changes to an envelope with a red X on it. Thanks in advance, I'm out of town so can't go back to the AT&T store until Monday :/

I wonder how accurate the GPS speed info is. Was playing with the My Tracks app and it clocked my top speed at 79, speedometer on my bike never showed over 65.

what was the distance traveled? may need a decent amount of data to average the speed over...

oh and the Xoom was OC'ed to 1.5 ghz...hot damn...
should i get it? seems like all the devs are getting it so it'll have a decent community. but it's never a good idea to get the first device on any OS. ughhh!

Does it let you open the camera? I know when I updated to 2.2 on the fascinate, I had to update firmware when I opened the camera app. Not sure if the epic requires the same or not.

What does everyone use for the media transferring/management? I have my music library that's been itunes-only for roughly 7 years and am looking for a way to keep the structure (for now) and all the album artwork & what not & have it transferred to my new Atrix. I've tried the Moto Media Manager software & its not that great. I also tried DoubleTwist but it wouldn't recognize the phone over USB.

Any suggestions?

Going to look into Winamp (feels so 1999). Windows explorer works too. Really liking the Atrix, though. Anyone else wish the spacebar was just slightly larger in the right-hand direction? I keep hitting the period instead about 10% of the time. Guess I need more practice. I agree that the external speaker is pretty nice.

the speaker might be the most underappeciated feature on the phone. you use the multitouch keyboard or the swype keyboard?

Using the regular touch screen keyboard for now. Haven't looked into swype yet. Recommended? I also have to say that launching & switching apps, unlocking the screen & downloading/installing from the marketplace seem to all be very snappy & quick. I like it.

swype is starting to piss me off by always selecting some shit that's like 87 letters more than i typed. some things it gets well, oddly the more complicated words, short words like 'be' 'the' 'it' it continuously fucks up. I should get around to customizing it.

yeah i think my fingers are too fat or something for swype

over 70% of the words i type come with that annoying word choice selector, often the word i was trying to spell being the first choice

and i don't know how to use the slider correctly :-/

Adjust the accuracy slider all the way to the right. If you manually type a lot with fat fingers you end up with shit like bw, tge, hry, in your dictionary and it's annoying as fuck.

yeah there should be an easier way to delete words. Only way now is to let swype pick the word, go back and highlight it, hit the swype key and confirm delete.

or hit the swype key to toggle a mode that does or does not add the words to dictionary. 'free-type' or what have you.

or offer an 'inverse' option where you type the word and hit swype to add.

well, looks like web-top will be coming to other Motorola phones. Wonder how the 512 in the Bionic will handle running the actual phone and web-top if it gets updated.

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/28/motorola-ceo-web-top-app-not-exclusive-to-atrix-headed-to-other-high-end-phones-2nd-half-2011/

Quote :
"Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha is currently speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference and just dropped some news about the Atrix 4G’s web-top application that should make future DROID BIONIC owners happy. He made mention of the web-top application not being an exclusive product to the Atrix and will come to all of their “high-end” devices, hopefully in the 2nd half of 2011. The BIONIC was not announced with web-top accessories at CES due to “timing.” Jha pointed out that it wasn’t possible to focus on developing web-top for both devices initially and chose the Atrix as the device to launch with it.

He also talked about the performance of the web-top accessories that seem to be getting below-average reviews on the Atrix. They are away that the experience is currently below that of a real desktop, but they feel that it can be brought up to speed in the near future."

i'm actually finding the gingerbread keyboard with a thin font applied works EXCELLENT for my regular use. i've tried them all - thumb, ultra, 8pen, swype, better, slideIT, swift, smart, and voice along with stock HTC Sense and gingerbread stock

thumb keyboard needs better autocorrect - for the evo on landscape mode it's mildly useful but without a good autocorrect, it's only worthwhile on the tablets. same with better, swift, and smart keyboards.

slideIT has a horrible gesture matching engine (swipe to type) not to mention an uglier UI.

ultra is way too tall and has a bad gesture matching engine (swipe to type).

8pen has a ridiculously steep learning curve. not only that but you have to consciously be thinking about HOW to type something you're already thinking of as you think of it. too hard to use on the go. i find it's like entering the combination to a safe while on the run every time i try to use it.

so i have gingerbread as my main - i can use it in landscape and portrait modes just as well but i use it more in landscape and use swype in portrait. if you want to use gingerbread keyboard in portrait, you have to be sitting/standing still and have both hands in the proper positions around the phone. i use swype as my daily portrait keyboard so i can do quick typing with one hand while on the go. when my phone is in landscape mode, i'm using both hands anyways so i can get decent speeds with gingerbread stock.

i agree with all your swype gripes - you should write on their forums or something. it's quite annoying. sometimes mid email i just say fuck it and switch back to gingerbread stock to finish tapping it out because of that.

the "inverse" option you mentioned sounds better to me

I'm pretty sure when you manually type a word and hit space, it's automatically added to the dictionary and you then highlight/swype key to delete it. When imho it should be the opposite.

i would test but gingerbread's new selection style/feature breaks that compatibility with swype. i think it works both ways you guys are mentioning.

I play cut the rope on the iPad and I really like it. I think it might suck on a small phone form factor though, there are a lot of things you have to do simultaneously in some of the harder levels.

Is there any increased risk of bricking the phone if you overclock it too high though? One of the programs I saw would go up to 1.4 by default but you could do customs

I dunno what all the D2G can handle but I'd rather go 80-90% of max with reliable operation than really push it to the max with the risk of damaging something

1.2 GHz on that phone should run flawlessly. I'd personally never run more than a 50% OC.
