Does not correlate. Look at how we fill areanas and stadiums here, but it would not translate to professional franchises. Different allegiance for the fans. Hell, look at Louisianna and Alabama football, college support like crazy but no way it translates to pro support.

Plus, filling an arena with $25 tickets is one thing but filling it with corporate sponsors and luxury boxes is a different level. There simply isn't the buying power in these remote places. There is good reason why there aren't more Canadian franchises in the NHL. The move from Minnesota to Dallas was clearly the best decision the franchise ever made.
