i dont see why everyone thinks we are gonna be so bad. we have two proven guys that can almost dominate on both sides at times (grant-driving atsur-shooting both on d). we also know brack and fells will make really good support players if a few more guys step up weve possibly got a top 25 team. at least a tourney team.

for one thing we don't know that B-Rack from the Bu is playing.

and our bench looks pretty shallow at first glance

"With Simmons moving on, Andrew Brackman's status becomes even that much more important. A rising junior, Brackman would be the top candidate to become NC State's man in the middle next season assuming he gets himself healthy and stays committed to playing basketball.

Also a pitcher on the Wolfpack baseball team, Brackman had his baseball season cut short by a hip injury this spring. From all indications, he plans to play both sports again next season.

"I love his enthusiasm," Lowe said. "He's a little down because he wants to work now. Obviously, he can't do that. From all accounts, we're looking forward to him coming back and he's going to play basketball. That's what he said. He's eager to get started as soon as he can get healthy." "

i think we are the definition of a mystery team this upcoming season. no one knows how much of an

impact Lowe will have in his first season. he could turn out to be a great college coach right off the

bat (which is fairly possible considering his supporting cast and experience coaching in the NBA), or

he could suck early on. we lost most of our points (Bennerman, Evtimov, Bethel, Simmons), and

minus Simmons the other three were very good senior leaders. no one knows how good Costner will

be. more than likely Grant will continue to build off of his great play that he exhibited during the last

half of the season, but who knows. Fells could be a breakout star, or play like a sophmore (good

play, but still makes a fair amount of mistakes). Atsur is a proven player, but will need to become

one of the team's leaders from the start. will Brackman be able to step into the unexpected position

of starting Center with ease, and will he be able to make a full recovery? we didn't get to see a ton

of McCauley last year, so hopefully he can give plenty of good play so that we won't be in trouble if

Brackman gets in foul trouble. no one really knows what type of skill Ferguson has. how much of an

impact will Horner have as a freshman?

we could definitely surprise some people next year, but no matter what we need to fill the RBC Center up from the very first game. i don't think that will be too hard. new coach, exciting play, no real expectations. should be fun, hopefully we could have a similar year that UNC had this past year.

i think this next basketball season should be fun. What i expect we'll see is a bunch of guys goin out there with everyone saying "eh, not much bench, they wont do well, new coach, lost all good players" and having a hell of a time playing basketball.

I remember when Evan Turner was a 3 star recruit and had us as his first choice. Now he's a 5 star recruit and has no interest in state. sucks but oh well. hopefully we can at least get jamelle mcmillan

that was actually me kiddo, Brass Monkey was talking to me im sure

yea im in contact with him still, they were pretty anxious just to get anyone really, but they love Lowes play, the thing they said though is that he is extremely dedicated to defense. hes a real action kind of offense guy and they like that, said they feel more free around the court now and feel like they can create for themselves instead of relying on the Herb system to make their moves. Overall they are impressed and said the main thing is his hunger to do well and really impress, not only with skill but also talent...Id say they like the guy pretty well both on and off the court.

Says he is the best recruit out of NC and he seems to have talent and is just emerging on the scene after some strong performances, hopefully he'll have a consistent senior year and move up to a premier player(4-5 Star top 100 talent) and will be a good stepping stone in our recruiting for 2007.

It really doesn't matter. We are going to suck so bad for at least two years. I'm debating foregoing watching ACC basketball altogether for a couple years.

i'm very happy about Johnny Thomas committing to State. i mean Lowe just passed his recruiting test the other week. we've got an Iowa State transfer who is supposed to be very quick. we've got a 7'2 or 3" guy from Poland that will be on the Polish national team that will at least give us a body if nothing else. then today we get a guy that is one of the best if not the best player in the state of north carolina. i mean we haven't even hit July yet, Lowe hasn't even recruited off-campus yet, and things are looking promising. this just shows that we have a good coach, that can relate to the players, and have put together a great staff. i can't wait to see what happens when he gets to leave campus next month to recruit. hopefully the product on the floor will be exciting and rewarding.

^i hope that's sarcasm.

Just an FYI, Thomas was recruited by Pete Strickland. Lowe didn't do all that much to land him, really.

This is the type of recruit Wake Forest was getting in the Sendek era. There is plenty of talent in NC to build a successful team around.

Yeah Thomas and Strickland did have a previous relationship, and I know that was a big part of Thomas coming here. He did mention that he talked to Lowe and liked him and what he plans on doing, so Lowe can get a little bit of credit for reeling him completely in. I doubt Thomas would commit only b/c of Strickland. He would have to like the head coach and campus too.

"N.C. State remains a serious contender for point guard Chris Wright after he withdrew his commitment following coach Herb Sendek's departure for Arizona State.Wright said he plans to visit N.C. State and get to know new coach Sidney Lowe better. Lowe, like Wright, played point guard and was from the Washington, D.C., area.

In addition to N.C. State, Wright said, he is considering Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Miami, Wake Forest, Clemson, DePaul and Virginia Tech.

"I want to go to a place and get immediate playing time," he said."

http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/colleges/recruiting/14983945.htm

If Lowe gets McMillan and Wright, along with Thomas and perhaps a talented big man, we could have a very nice class to propel us into the 2nd year of the Sidney Lowe era. McMillan + Wright could = one of the best backcourts in the nation. i'd imagine we'd have plenty of playing time to offer Wright with the loss of Atsur after this season.

I just wish we could get Wright committed. and soon, along with McMillan. I think if players could see big-name recruits believing in Lowe and our new staff, then perhaps they would follow suit.

This was shaping up to be a big-time class for Herb before he left(Wright, McMillain, Turner, Vaughn(long shot)), so hopefully we can at least get half the players we originally were trying to get.

i wonder if McMillan and Wright know of each other, and if so have ever chatted through aim, email, myspace, etc. i think we have 3 scholarship offers for 2007 now that Johnny Thomas committed.

2007 Class (that i'm praying for)
-Johnny Thomas (already verbaled and will more than likely stay committed)
-Wright
-McMillan (guys like this don't come around to often. a recruiters dream a good player whose father played here)
-a PF/C combo to help back up McCauley, Costner, and perhaps Brackman if he plays his senior year. would definitely get plenty of playing time in year 2 and 3 and see limited action in year 1.

DREAM CLASS: 1) Johnny Thomas 3 star (could soon be a 4 star)
2)Chris Wright 5 star
3)Jamelle Mcmillan 4 star
4) J.J. Hickson 5 star
This is not all out of reality....we are in GREAT shape with Wright and Mcmillan...and a little birdy told me that It will very likely come down to us and UCONN in the end for Hickson.FWIW

Im afraid you guys are getting your hopes up too high.

This is NC State, somehow we will end up disappointed.

Wright, Vaughn, and McMillian would kick ass. Trouble is they might not stay long here if they do come.
