i don't really understand why they call the show idiot abroad and advertise it as some huge practical joke on a person. they should call it 'average joe who is uncomfortable in foreign settings and speaks his mind unfiltered and is not actually being tricked into acting like a buffoon like the commercials suggest'.

also i can't stand ricky gervais and i wish they would remove his disgusting fat pasty snaggletooth english face from the show, every time he laughs at how unbelievably funny he thinks he is i want to murder a puppy.

all that being said though i did enjoy the one episode i saw where karl was in brazil, and i wouldn't mind seeing a few more episodes of this show.

I agree. The Gervais cackling annoys the shit out of me in the first 5 minutes.

eh, I like Ricky's laugh
It always makes me smile in that infectious way.

The amount of pussified whinging Karl does is unholy. I read Happyslapped by a Jellyfish which was an entire book of pissing and moaning. He's much better on the screen/podcast vs. the written word.

Just want to clarify that I love this show and I also usually enjoy Gervais

it's just the Gervais hysterical laughing in each episode's intro that annoys the shit out of me. It seems so fake

after a couple episodes i started fast forwarding the intro, but not because of Gervais' laugh.... just because thats what DVR is for.

also, side note, i keep seeing the word "whinging" places, as in TroopofEchos's post above... are all these people brittish or did people abandon the word "whining" or what?

I didn't mean the show intro. I meant the 2 or 3 minutes when they're telling Karl where he's going and seeing his thoughts before he actually goes

[Edited on April 5, 2011 at 6:41 PM. Reason : I think "whinging" is a British term]

poor word choice i guess. the commercials make it seem as if they are sending karl to some place and filming him for a documentary or something, without him knowing that the reason they're filming him is to laugh at him and his reactions to things. perhaps the part where they say something about "the greatest practical joke ever" made me think that they were actually attempting to play a joke on this guy, but when you actually watch the show you can clearly see that's not the case. karl obviously knows going in that he's just there to be uncomfortable and say things that a normal person might just keep to themselves.

I love the show, but I'd trade it for The Ricky Gervais Show any day. Even if it was just Karl, Stephen, and Ricky doing the abroad stuff.

This show would be a lot better if they had the others to break up the complaining. They would have to do more than just laugh at Karl... but hopefully they could grow up enough to do that

the first episode was funny. the rest not so much. he's a little too "Brent", basically feels like Warwick Davis playing Ricky Gervais at times.

Watched first episode of season 2 this past weekend. The part when Karl was walking through the woods with that guy whose entire language starts with the letter N... and he made a comment about how they play "I Spy", that had me lolling.

If anyone can find the full list that they use of 100 things to do before you die that Karl has to choose from, can you post it?

I paused and was able to read like half or so when they show it but I'm curious of the rest. I've done six of the things on the list that I can see, and assuming bungee jumping and skydiving are on the list I've done 8.

Loving it as well as The Ricky Gervais Show.

I didn't know all of this existed until I got an itch to finish Extras and looked into Gervais more.

The monkey scene on Saturday was pretty good.

I'm surprised by what things he really doesn't want to do and things that he does without much complaining (at least by his standards). Like he put up little resistance to putting on makeup with the ladyboys

The part with the ants had me in tears because I was laughing so hard. I think it was just the way he was twitching or something, I rewatched that scene like four times.

I've enjoyed the new season because Karl is funny, but it still kind of irks me that that Ricky and that other guy are still trying to pretend that they're somehow pulling something over on Karl. Why not just say "Hey Karl we'll send you to these places but we're going to make you do these things that we think will be funny?" It would be the same show just Ricky and that other guy wouldn't have to pretend so hard that the Emperor has clothes on.

^ haha yeah I loved his comment about how "I can't be mad at 'em, I'm eatin' his brotha"

Just watched the Alaska one. It may be my favorite of the show. I was laughing my ass off at the part with the huskies that he couldn't keep under control. The part at the end too when he was seasick...

Karl?
what?

Karl?
What?

Karl?

This gorilla episode may be my favorite yet.

I find it much more entertaining when Karl is actually enjoying himself.

And I have to say, through all the interactions that Ricky/Steven have with Karl; they come out looking like the idiots just as often as Karl.

I agree with you and i think some of thats on purpose. I was also surprised at how little convincing it took to get karl to eat poop
