I think the difference between cute and hot definitely has something to do with body type. Rounder features are cute, angular but soft and smooth features are hot. It also has something to do with style. How you wear your hair, how you dress, how you do your makeup.

Drew Barrymore is cute. Reese Witherspoon is cute. I think it has more to do with rounded features. And a corresponding bubbly personality.

For example, Scar Jo has rounded features, but more of a seductress personality. Hence, she is hot, rather than cute.

Taller, more elegant Gwyneth Paltrow is beautiful, rather than cute. While also tall and elegant, Giselle is known for her bikini bod. Thus, she is sexy.
