Holding your cell-phone shutting off your cell signal was "blown out of proportion"? Put down the kool-aid and take a step back and see that one of the important things about a cell-phone is to be able to hold it in your hand without it's functionality diminishing.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

I was trying to say that Apple is having a very hard time maintaining the same reality distortion field that Steve was so good at presenting. This isn't to say that the iPhone wasn't a great or isn't a great product, just that the quality control definitely doesn't meet the same of days gone by.

Waze is great. I love the accident/police reporting feature. Waze did take us way out of the way on one road trip we went on. Double checking with another map might be needed if the route/time doesn't make sense.

Thank you for proving my point. Because Antennagate was blown out of proportion, mindless idiotic trolls like yourself actually believe that the issue was as bad as "holding your cell-phone shutting off your cell signal"

I used the phone in question for 26 months and never experienced any issues with calls dropping or loss of signal that resulted in poor call quality. I never had to think about how I was holding it and rarely put a case on it, which was supposed to fix the issue completely. It simply wasn't necessary. Sure, I could cup the phone in my hand and watch the bars drop from 5 down to 3, but I was still able to make and receive calls and data, even at the worst point. So yes, speaking as someone who did more than just read about the issue, I can say with 100% certainty that the media blew it out of proportion, and haters like yourself ate it up for breakfast and begged for more.

And I was just saying that I disagree (and giving examples why). People like yourself hated Apple with Steve Jobs at the helm, and now that he's gone you still hate it just as much. The only difference now is that you have his death to blame. I don't get it, and I wish it would stop, but I guess haters are just gonna keep hating. Such is life.

Is there any way without jailbreaking to configure an iPhone so that it doesn't track and record your locations, or to at least periodically erase the log?

Is there any negative consequence to jailbreaking if this is all i use it for? I don't want to adversely affect security or stability.

depends if you want to disable the iPhone's GPS or the triangulation from your phone provider. To disable GPS where apps can't use it, go to settings>location services>off

That still allows law enforesement to track it via cellphone towers though

I guess I shouldn't say "configure"; I mean are there any apps to do it within the app store? ...or is jailbreaking my only option?

I know nothing about how the location tracking works or even if it still does what it used to do (I know they changed how it worked after everybody got all worked up about it) but I know for sure that any App Store app won't be able to change anything related to what you're asking about.

And you say this based on what exactly? Your misinformed and biased opinion isn't exactly a reputable source in anyone's mind except your own.

I mean, I guess congrats on finding something else to say besides twice the cost, half the features 8x the marketing, but the new shit you're spewing makes just as much sense as the old shit. Smells about the same too.

yes, literally no one was having problems with it. that's why there were thousands of articles about it with millions of people complaining about it and Apple issued free bumper cases to prevent the problem. But apple-dick-sucing El Nacho says he didn't have any problem, welp, that settles it!

It's really not an all or nothing issue like you've just tried to make it out to be. You're coming in on one extreme on this issue, and you're dead set on putting me at the other extreme end in order to make your point of view seem less incorrect. Both extremes are wrong, however the only one with an extreme viewpoint here is you.

I never said there weren't any issues at all. Just that the issues weren't as widespread or debilitating as the media and you Apple-haters were making them out to be. If, in your feeble mind, you have already accepted it as a fact that millions of customers were unable to use their phones because of the issue then there's no way I can make you believe otherwise. Its simply not true at all, and the phone continues to sell well to this day, still "crippled" in its original condition.

You're set in your beliefs, I get it. There nothing I could say that would make you believe the truth about this issue, and more to the point, even if you did know the facts, you're the type of person to ignore them just for the sake of trolling. And with that in mind, I've fed your trolling for the last time.

As opposed to all the super helpful posts that you've made here? Yes, I get involved with a lot of stupid shit with idiots in here, but you must be blind if you don't see the legitimate contributions I make. Even if you hate me, you can't deny that unless you're just purposely ignoring about half of my posts.

No one here that I am aware of works for an Apple store. Have you actually tried calling your local store to ask someone that knows. If someone posts a question in here that I know the answer to, I'll try to answer it to the best of my ability. Likewise, if people post false or misleading info, I do my best to correct it. If you see that as dick measuring, that's no skin off my back. Sorry that all other discussions weren't immediately dropped so we could get right on giving out info that we don't have access to.

This is more of an iOS 6 question instead of iPhone 5 question, but is there really no way to temporarily disable vibration when you take a call? I'm pretty tired of being on a phone call and an email alert vibration shakes my head.

They can turn off the display when you hold it up...why not the vibrate?

Or am I missing an obvious toggle that lets me turn this off?

Anyone see a more definitive announcement on when the Lightning-30 Pin adaptor will be available? I've got one on order that says "ships in Oct", but damn it would be nice if I could acquire one by Thursday for a six-hour drive.

It's a lens flare.

It's a physical property of nature. Pretty much every camera ever will do it, including your eyes.

There's a huge difference between lens flare and the purple halo. They're related but higher end cameras and most smart phone cameras do not exhibit this purple flare. It's unique to the iPhone 5 because of the sapphire lens they put over the camera. AFAIK most cameras don't use sapphire lenses which cause the purple distortion.

^^ The original email posted above actually had 2 images shot at the same time if the same subject. One was the iP5 and the other was the iP4. The iP4 image didn't show it. Other blogs have done the same tests with Android & Win7 phones showing the same result. It's an iP5 flaw.

^^^I always wondered why they don't use sapphire glass for the camera cover on the iphone, like you'd find on a watch (my 4's glass is somewhat scratched compared to the rest of the phone).

I guess that's why.

What if that's the only angle you have for the picture?
