obviously to beseech some kind of pre-Egyptian timeless demigod to use the power of the island to bring him back to "the land of the living"- eh? Just like Locke says at the end...

The miles/hurley scene was gold. I really did feel as if I was on here reading post after post again. Perhaps the writers are on tdub
I also like how they addressed the potential plot hole and then came up with a clear explanation for it. They are doing quite nicely at tying up loop holes.
Big Business
i think it was pretty dead on for anyone who suggested juliet would work on him, as opposed to jack. jack did no work on him, and she did a damn good job. the degree of your trolling is proportional to the size of your text. 4/1/2009 11:42:43 PM |

No looped holes were tied
Merely addressing a problem doesn't resolve it
And no one guessed that ben would be sent to the others
And everyone though ben would remember everyone when he grew up because he got shot and that's why he has files on everyone--when in reality, he could just get files on any random person just because he had the capability to do so 4/1/2009 11:55:05 PM |

I like the ironic time loop here: Why did Jack refuse to help young Ben? Im sure its in no small part due to adult' Ben's bad behavior. However, by not helping young Ben, Jack may be indirectly responsible for Ben becoming the bad man he is. 4/2/2009 4:00:50 AM |

So intuitive!
No shit, the whole point is they went back in time and caused the event that sent them back in time and made the loop - but Desmond can stop it!4/2/2009 8:22:45 AM |

Got you BigB, I also suggested Jules was her. I thought you were implying that she wasn't which is why I attacked you so, I apologize for that.
I also liked how Jack saved Ben before because Kate asked him to and then he refused to save him because of Kate. "You didn't like who I was then." Brilliant. 4/2/2009 9:34:22 AM |

The correct quote is, "If I take him, he's not ever going to be the same again. What I mean is that, he's going to forget that THIS ever happened and that his innocence will be gone. He will always be one of us."
It makes quite a difference.

so there is the reason for ben to not remember anyone else. but then again, this young ben and the older ben that does the purge has quite a few years between the two.
i wouldn't see the others keeping him for a long time as when he came back to the dharma group, people would suspect that he would have changed. so if he comes back soon, that means jack, kate, sawyer, juliet, hurley, jin, and other guy have got to go sometime soon. 4/2/2009 1:56:23 PM |

i'm pretty sure that all ben is forgetting is how to live like one of the dharma. the whole "he'll always be one of us" is the only reason i'd say that. i mean, ben has to come back and live among these people for 10-15 more years. 4/2/2009 3:29:46 PM |

perhaps richard is just picking new leaders for the others and the "i don't answer to them" quote is the same as how he helps locke become the leader (maybe?) behind ben's back.

No...Jack's acting a lot like Locke and its disgusting
and the hurley/miles scene still left the topic open for debate. Faraday's "rules" were put to question, and nothing definitive came from it. It was just a funny 4th wall scene that the writers use the give some purpose to Hurley other than being the fat guy who doesn't lose weight when stranded on an island. time travel loop holes are still open

They even seemingly mocked the BTTF version of how events would work. I feel they've been rather clear about what happens has already and always will happen. I really don't see any loop holes that have been left open, and I don't believe its reasonable to expect a show to say "this is definitely whats going on for those of you who can't grasp it." even though they pretty much did that this week. 4/2/2009 10:36:43 PM |
wilso All American 14657 Posts user info edit post |
^^i'm pretty sure the course correction deal only applies to desmond. he tried to change the future with charlie, but charlie still ended up dying anyway.
like it's been said a million times before, the events that are unfolding have already happened. there is no course correction here. everyone's attempts to change the future actually result in the future they try to prevent (sayid shooting ben, jack refusing to save ben). 4/2/2009 11:04:30 PM |

I don't understand why everyone seems to be so obsessed with calling it a plot hole just because Ben didn't yell out "OMG YOU PEOPLE WERE ON TEH ISLAND WHEN I WAS A KID, OMGWTFBBQ~!!!!111!" the first time he saw them all in 2004. Since when has Ben's character been known as someone that revealed all the information that he has about something?
