coming back from class to see my roommate's friends drinking/eating my food and enjoying themselves on my entertainment center, that they've taken it upon themselves to mess with. 11/15/2007 5:30:20 PM |

I'm not pissed at the temperatures. They don't bother me -- it's the electric bills that bother me.11/15/2007 6:18:16 PM |

If you were concerned about electric overages, you wouldn't turn the heat off when it's below freezing outside and open your window. 11/15/2007 6:49:26 PM |

Actually, I would. Because it means the heat is off. And when it gets turned back on, it doesn't "work harder" to get it warmer unless you turn it on emergency/aux heat. Which I never do. 11/15/2007 7:20:14 PM |

Okay say the temperature is an average 68ish in fall/winter. You turn it off at night and so it's 60 by the morning. Instead of just keeping 68ish constant, it's gotta work it's way back up from however low it drops to a more reasonable temperature. That seems like a lot more energy used. It's still using a lot of energy regardless of whether it is on auxiliary heat to get back to a reasonable temperature. 11/15/2007 7:23:19 PM |

It was cold in my room, but wasn't cold in the rest of the apartment. You wouldn't have been able to tell a difference if I hadn't told you... 11/15/2007 7:59:03 PM |
