I don't always listen to cool songs of the 90s, but when I do.. I prefer Brother Cane - Got No Shame

..or Machete, if you can find it

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is in the cd player in my car currently. (Dawn to Dusk, to be specific). Had nothing to do with this thread, but it's remarkable how solid an album it is for spanning two discs.

"Angry Angel" along with the rest of Imogen Heap's debut album, iMegaphone, is sorely underrated IMO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QES4nLT4_gM

How could MCATIS not have anything to do with this thread?

It's the definitive answer to this thread as far as I'm concerned.

The Gin Blossoms had some tunes that got stuck in your head for days.

As did the Lemonheads.

The fact that it is in my car's CD player had nothing to do with the thread, as I put it in there before I noticed this thread had been bumped. As to the point of the thread, yes. Hence my posting it.

I swear I heard "Plowed" on some film soundtrack...

...also for some reason the song immediately reminded me of another song from that same year that rocks about as hard, "Stage" from Live - Throwing Copper (1994): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G758UFOLVYw

I was again reminded of this thread in the car this morning. If you have sirius/XM, as our new car does, check out channel 34, "Lithium". Pretty damn good channel for mostly 90's rock/alternative/etc. On the way into work this morning I heard, in order:

Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees
Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm
Hole - Doll Parts
Porno for Pyros - Pets

Not a huge Hole fan but that was the first time I'd heard that song in probably 5 years. Don't think I've ever heard Fake Plastic Trees on the radio before now. Pets has been mentioned, justifably, in this thread several times, and Disarm is one of the best songs of the decade, and one of my top 10 favorite songs period. Can't beat that.

I remember, in 1992 (when my older sister started watching MTV), hoping that the decade would be jam-packed with more strong feminist-oriented acts like 4 Non Blondes

well it wasn't that full but there were still plenty around.
