great series buffalo, this is what rivalries are all about, we call you divers, i completely disrespect your coach, and get nervous when briere gets the puck. Buffalo-Carolina games will be circled on my calender next season. this won't be the last conference final this young sabres team will see, guys like Vanek will lead your team to new heights.

DAMN IT. Game 2 is the same result. All gone.

^ So fucking what. Buffalo draws a ton of Canadians up there at the border. Plus, they certainly are more used to hockey in new england.....NC is still very much about football and basketball..we have tons of options to distract, just give it time.

not to mention our tickets were 40% more expensive. So quit that bullshit.

kainen they were more expensive for season ticket holders but not for regular tickets, the nosebleed were a 100 per ticket in the ecf compared to the 70 here

but anyhow just watch it on tv, you get to see all the replays, you can go the bathroom without standing in line and you can drink all the beer you want without playing 8 dollars for each one

that may be. And I do think we have a lot of fans. I really do.

The problem is how DIEHARD fans are they? Willing to pay 100+ just to grace the doors? I bet we have a ton of fans like I am who can't afford it and are new to the hockey thing, but are really starting to love it. After putting on the ice successful seasons back to back w/ no lockouts are problems, I bet these good fans turn into more of a rabid, club fan willing to shell. I know I will next year.

With the lockout last year, and hockey still being somewhat alien to this area, is it hard to believe that the reason we can't sell out is becuase to be a hockey fan at the playoffs is FRICKING EXPENSIVE?

All for all this season our attendance and local tv ratings have been quite good and the best so far, so why all the flack. Because we don't compare to an area that has hockey out in the schools, colleges, historically, and climate wise?

It's just getting old and this area doesn't deserve it.

but this is the playoffs there could only be 7 games in the finals, 100 dollars is reasonable, during the season yeah you could get tickets for 10 bucks but there were what like 41 home games, although you don't have to go to the games to support you team, just watch it at a bar or at home, its still fun and you do get to see more

if i remember correctly, NJ didn't sell out their games when they played the Canes (or it sure as hell didn't look like it from the empty seats).

our issue w. tickets is prices

if they were as low as they are for other small market teams, they would be gone in 14 mins

Did a little research/math. Continental Airlines arena has a seating capacity of 19,040 for hockey.

Round 2, Game 3 attendance: 16862 (88.6% capacity)
Round 2, Game 4 attendance: 17585 (92.4% capacity)

Attendance is recorded as number of tickets sold, not the number of people who actually came in. So, they weren't sellouts.

The problem with a market like New Jersey is that it's oversaturated with hockey and intense rivalries, so the fact that they don't really sell out doesn't really come as a shock.

p.s. Fuck the Devils

whatever happens if we have a game to win the stanley cup in RALEIGH I want to be there. If not inside over at DAMONS and then come over to the tent party afterwards which will be about 10 times as crazy as last night and that was pretty good too.

Vanek has tons of goalscoring talent. He needs someone who can feed him on a regular basis to get the kinds of ridiculous goals he got as a Gopher.

Buffalo has two co-captains. They alternate who wears the C and the A. A co-captain is not a captain. When Briere was asked if he'd guarantee a win, he dodged the question completely. That's not leadership. Drury would make a good captain, IMO, but this co-captain stuff is laughable.

You know when hockey becomes the most successful thing in Raleigh sports

it's a dark, dark time

*this is a knock on NCSU, not hockey...we need to get it together

^ well not really.. because NCSU can be as successful as possible for the base fans. But the Carolina Hurricanes are a regional team with a regional fan base. i.e. Tarheel, Blue Devil, Eagle, WolfPack, General Population , and etc. are going to be Carolina Hurricanes Fans... most of the like are not going to be NCSU fans. People will come from Greensboro to see the Canes.. not necessarily to see the Wolfpack.

basically the NCSU fan base is so much smaller than the Canes.
