i dont think Harry's villian is going to play that big of a role. you see him layed out in the hospital in that new trailer, i think Parker does that, and thats what makes him realize he needs to lose the new suit, leading to the appearance of Venom

I wouldnt get mad until you see an actualy completed scene with venom.

But, I generally have one scene in mind when I go watch movies like this. X-men 3, was the mutant fight scene at the end. This movie, will be the ripping off of the suit. If they fail making that scene as good as it should be, then the movie will be alot worser overall.

Thats why I didnt like X3. That fight was a total let down. It was a mixture of being PG-13, and shitty little filler shots. But I do want to look at the DvD to see if its any better and the alternate endings.

I just watched the ifilm trailer and it looked consistent with the rest of the series IMO. The CGI in Spiderman 1 and 2 was cartoony a lot of times, but I liked that. The films had a consistent look that worked.

^The Ultimate Spiderman origin was far worse. IIRC it was simply a lab experiment to increase the host's strength - similar to the Green Goblin in the original Spiderman.

What is the origin story in Spiderman 3? I'm guessing that it is still an alien life form that comes from space. A space trip by MJ's finance/JJ's son?

well the original version was spider-man got the suit while fighting in the Secret Wars, but i don't see how they could work that angle in. i'm presuming Jameson's son will bring it back with him from space. since it's an alien symbiote you'd think they would work it in the story that way.

i would think that it's a visual metaphor of grotesque power overtaking a weaker being, as opposed to being more contained under spider-man's higher moral fiber

Actually I believe it takes on the person's image of themselves. Spiderman pictures himself that way, as for the design being black and white instead of being red and blue, he was subconsciously influenced by the then new Spiderwoman's costume in the Secret Wars arch:



He never fully bonded with the symbiote like Brock though, so maybe if he had Spiderman would have looked more grotesque. I guess if Peter Parker were as aggressive and consumed with revenge as Eddie Brock is he'd be "huge and hulking" too.

Yeah I know the story and theory, was just responding to the criticism that Venom must be made bigger for the movie. I think a simple buff up of Topher will do ok...they do not need to make him all incredible hulk like....

Brock was a big dude in real life. It's not like he was peter parker's size but was huge as venom. Brock was all into lifting and shit.

I don't see why we have to get hung up on the whole size aspect. Michael keaton is like 5'7" and he was an awesome batman.

^ True. And getting someone the right size doesn't guarantee a great part. Think Arnold as Freeze (shudders). Having Topher Grace as Venom doesn't really bother me... in the Ultimate storyline Brock isn't nearly as big as in the original. He's about equal with Parker.
