Just saw that gem God. Why dont we have the government hire everyone who is unemployed? Job creation right? hahah

Oh, and I didnt see any of those charities listed in your article? Is that the reason you dont give to those groups? I thought you wanted to help? Do you need me to find a link to where all the SS dollars have gone over the last 30 yrs? Yeah, IOUs, I know. We can just repay them with all that extra money coming in.

That sounds like a great idea. I'm sure they would rather have a job than be unemployed.

I support people less fortunate than me through social programs which are funded by tax collection.

A naive and lazy response, but fitting with your attitude about the govt hiring everyone.

Have a good day

"The new measure, called a reconciliation bill, also would take additional steps to close a gap in Medicare prescription drug coverage and to help low- and middle-income Americans purchase health insurance through new insurance exchanges."

Neither of those can legally be passed through reconciliation. It's like they don't even GIVE A SHIT about the Constitution any more. Not even trying. Hey, we're gonna pass a bill without even voting on it. Now we're gonna ignore our own fucking rules. Heeeeeey!

Quote :
"The number of tax increases that unquestionably violate President Obama’s “firm pledge” not to raise “any form” of taxes on families making less than $250,000: 7"

Where are the people here to promise me that Obama will not raise my taxes again? Yall sure were all over the place ranting about this during the election. DEFEND YOUR LYING SACK OF SHIT NOW. I mean, 1 might be defensible. but 7? SEVEN FUCKING NEW TAXES THAT YOU PLEDGED NOT TO CREATE OR INCREASE?

Quote :
"Frankly, I'd much rather take on the financial burden of millions of uninsured people than have to pay an extra $165 a year."

By all means, TAKE THEM ON YOURSELF, FUCKER, but don't force me to.

Quote :
"Most interesting rumor from the Hill yesterday: Rep. Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.) who announced his retirement from Congress has been promised the job of NASA administrator in exchange for his vote, and Rep. John Tanner (D-Tenn.), another retiring Democrat, has been promised an appointment as U.S. Ambassador to NATO in exchange for his vote."

Hey, if you can't get it passed on its own merits, just resort to bribery. That's the hallmark of a GREAT BILL here, folks.

^ how about you support them with YOUR MONEY ALONE, not mine. THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT, YOU FUCKING IDIOT.

It is not true. Such social programs shockingly tend to miss out on helping the worst off among us, instead granting subsidies to the comfortable that would do fine without them. It is only local and private charities that tend to help the homeless or outcast. Welfare and such subsidies require you to already have an address and fill out paperwork, hard for the uneducated to do. It also tends to be oddly area dependent, so a lower-middle class household living in a rich neighborhood qualifies, but a poor household in a poor neighborhood does not.

So, no. You cannot rely on your tax dollars to care for those less fortunate than yourself because the government tends to fuck up whatever it tries to do. People are left to starve in the street while much of your money is stolen through the Federal Housing Administration by mobsters flipping real-estate.

Those rich people pay taxes, which according to your dumb ass, is the only noble way to help the poor and unfortunate. You should be praising them for doing so much more than yourself.

Its a wonder why we have a need for these charities? I mean we have programs for the homeless, poor, etc. Yet we have all these organizations that help these people too...how wierd.

I could show you actual facts of how much taxes those evil rich pay, but I dont think it would help you.

The parliamentarian makes that decision. If he decides it's fair, it's fair.

Quote :

That I agree with, but they had to fight fire with fire, no? Or should only Republicans get to ignore the constitution? However, in this case, I'd say they're not ignoring the constitution. The things that worry me are related to domestic surveillance, etc.

No, they aren't. Explanation, if you care to read
http://www.tnr.com/blog/jonathan-chait/why-have-dc-journos-done-such-poor-job-explaining

What was actually said about taxes:
Quote :
"Under the Obama Plan:

* Middle class families will see their taxes cut – and no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase. The typical middle class family will receive well over $1,000 in tax relief under the Obama plan, and will pay tax rates that are 20% lower than they faced under President Reagan. According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle class families as the McCain plan."

Oh, and um, hi guys!

o and its NO

0.9% increase to Medicare payroll tax on EARNED income over 200K/250K threshold. That is not a "new" tax, per se, although it really depends how one chooses to look at it, but it is a tax increase imposed only on one specific sector.

thats becaause the people that are outspoken are only the people that lost the election. The people that voted aren't going to be outspoken because they are letting the process run its course. people voted for the politicians after they spoke of healthcare is the point. if people were so against healthcare they wouldn't have let something so trivial like "bushes party needs to lose" let them elect health care mongerers.

Now the minority who are against it are rioting and calling dc nonstop. wah. democratic republic wins.

but he also campaigned universal healthcare. I might need to check my history, but I'm not quite sure bush even ran for president in 08, if he did, I don't think he was the only other candidate. My memory isn't clear but there must have been other candidates. right?

Congressman Bob Etheridge:

Quote :
"The working families of the 2nd District need solutions, not more fear, neither the real fears of rising cost nor the false fears spread by special interests. We cannot continue to allow the current system to kill jobs and bust the budgets of our families and our nation. After reading the bill carefully, I have concluded that it will save lives and save money. I have listened to North Carolinians from all points of view and after prayerful consideration, I will vote ‘yes’ for these needed reforms. This is the best chance we have to reduce sky-rocketing health care cost for North Carolina families."

only, he didn't campaign for universal healthcare. nice try, though. he campaigned, 100% on "change." So much so that that the word was on his fucking banners.

^ haha. yes, the best chance we have is to implement a system that has caused insurance premiums in Massachusetts to go through the roof. To implement a system that led to higher premiums for BCBS in the 30s and 40s. Yes. The best way to reduce costs is to do things that consistently raise costs. The level of fucking stupidity it takes to make such statements is amazing. And people will dumb enough to vote for this idiot

none of this has anything to do with healthcare. if people hated healthcare and hated bush they wouldve elected one of the MANY candidates that wasn't named bush, didn't support bush and didn't support healthcare overhaul.

if obama promised 500% tax hikes on all levels (something americans would disprove) along with change, i'm sure he would've lost

[Edited on March 19, 2010 at 9:59 PM. Reason : point is, if americans hated a major part of his platform, they wouldnt have elected him]
