You said you liked the venu, right? That part wont change. No, it'll probably never be the NYC/LA dance club crowd you were expecting since that kind of crowd doesn't exist in raleigh. Thats also not what we're trying to be. This place has had so much hype, that everyone and their sister has been chomping at the bit to get a peak at it since its opening. The clientele will change over time. After a few months, it'll be the same people that normally frequent glenwood south, plus some of the higher end crowd.

I have given up on Raleigh ever supporting a club scene. Its just in the peoples blood there to not go to clubs, never seen anything like it... been in cities/towns a LOT more country/southern, a LOT smaller, a LOT less "cosmopolitan" than Raleigh and they had so much more going on club wise... Raleigh is just a bar/drink at home town, cant figure out exactly why this is, but I even became a bar person by default in the 5 years I lived there...never was one before and definitely not one now that I have moved.

i never liked the idea of going out and spending $20 for two drinks and not even getting a buzz. Mind you I'm a light weight and usually two drinks gets me tipsy. Has to be on some else's tab.

That and I usually hate going out with a large group. Some bitches would get testy and say they want to leave, then end up being drama queens instead of trying to enjoy the night. Ends up splitting up into 3 groups.

Last time that happened, I got pissed off with one of the girls in the group who kept making fun of me the whole night. I was the DD and I was like "take the fucking cab you bitch". Walked out and literally walked from downtown Raleigh to Apex. 15 miles. 2nd time I've done that actually.

"but overall I love the venue but hated every minute I was in there. Like I said be prepared to wait and wait some more when you get in. The staff we dealt with was crappy. The crowd was even crappier. It was older mid life crisis men and women in their mid 30s to early 50s. Not to mention the men were creepy as fuck and kept grabbing you to get your attention, who got attitudes when you brushed them off. Overall the crowd fucking sucked it was a horrible mix and you get violated a lot.
I WILL NOT be going back in a really long ass time."

just admit you hate the people, but hey, sur-fucking-prise they aren't gonna be the same self righteous jerkoffs you get in NY, this is Raleigh, NC.

this sounds like a place that you'd want to get to around 8pm and have a few drinks on the roof top and bolt before the night life crowd gets in.

yes, place to be then... I had one drunk woman, who looked like she was 36, tried to buy me a drink and said "I'm not trying to pick you up or anything. Why am I saying this?" I was like "I think I hear my editor call my name."

I'd argue it's more because all the clubs in Raleigh suck. You've got The Office, which tries to make itself look real upscale by having the bouncer wear a suit in what's pretty much a shady looking construction zone, or you have Mosquito which seems to be plenty popular but is a pain to get drinks at and is fairly secluded.

That said, I actually like Mosquito, but hate the cover.

I disagree... Raleigh/NC State should be able to support good clubs, shitty clubs, classy clubs, hardcore dance clubs, etc. There should be multiple options in a city that size with a huge university smack in the middle but there arent... For some reason State/Raleigh people are bar/house party people and not club people.

this is the same for most clubs around...exactly the reason i don't usually go out to clubs unless i go with my sister & her friends (since they either know the owner or know how to get in for free at the very least). i guess for guys it's not that easy.

off topic, can you be allergic to alcohol? I had one girl tell me this before, but I've seen some facebook pictures that looked like alcohol was in the mix.

Asians are allergic to alcohol and they way we are is we flush and turn red.

"Many people of Asian descent experience an unusual flushing reaction after drinking alcohol — even in very small amounts. This is caused by a genetic disorder in which the body is unable to break down alcohol completely."

A radio DJ yesterday went on and on about how shitty this place is. Apparently she dropped $300 on dinner, but was still too ugly to be allowed up to the third floor.

^must have been for more than her. if not I wouldn't let her on the glass floor or the third floor. and while thinking of that, maybe there is a reason she is in radio and not tv.

That's not how it works. You either have to get there early/stand in line forever, or have a reservation. They stop letting people in after a certain point and then after that they let one in when one leaves. So you either have to get lucky or know someone.

Non-asian people can be affected in the same way that many asians are affected. Ive met a scottish professor that couldnt drink because he lacked the Alcohol Dehydrogenase that was required to break down the alcohol (same as many asians but much harder to find in other nationalities)

This bar seems like a place I would not like. I havent read all the way through but how much do they charge for a beer? $5-7?

Basically the thing to do with this place is go there early for dinner/drinks if you want to have the mobility to do what you want. Make it your first stop of the night.

^ unless you are cute or rich pre-plan your evening. I walked around there for a little bit, it was pretty inside. I may head to the bar and get some apps when I get my stipend check.

Beers are like $5 max. Not more than other bars for regular beers... $2-$3.

that's pretty much my take on it. get there early and peace out after you finish your appetizers.

so were people being let up there and she was held back? i think she might just be too stupid AND ugly.

I went Friday.

The atmosphere and structure is real nice. The drink prices are priced for long term business.

The place is sick. Not only will I go back but i will go back anticipating on fucking a 30 year old.

There are two distinct problems with the place:

#1) The music there sucked hardcore. No one wants to dance to unpopular techno. If you are gonna insist on playing techno at 12 PM you either need to move towards MSTRKRFT hype stuff or release towards the stuff these 30 year old whores remember like WE'RE IN HEEEEEEAVEN". Either way it will attract more loose whores which is the long term goal for any club.

#2) This club will be ghetto in 3-6 months. You keep letting neeg's in slowly and eventually there is no one there but them. It's just a club phenomenon. No dress code or amount of bouncers will stop that. Ask any club or apartment complex that has put in a basketball court.

In the meantime I wouldnt go anywhere else on Glenwood until ghetto fab rules the day.

^^ not stupid just realistic.

Everyone has a friend that is black and cool.

Each of those guys have 10 friends that are black and not cool.

It ruins clubs.

Need examples?

Office in ~'02. White Collar in ~'04. Pi Bar in '06.

Melrose in ~'04. Wolfcreek in ~'05.

If you can't keep 'em out you cant keep business in.

No hate black people. Money is money. You guys devalue a property faster than the Euro could possibly inflate against it due to lifestyle choices and irrational decisions.

Change your culture, perception, and your value.

I do think the prices, atmosphere seems a bit odd with a techno DJ. I mean it's not a dance club for college kids or even just the young pro's.

I mean techno can happen it just has to be in mixed doses and you have to play current shit.

You have to have an established vibe i think. Every hot girl friday wanted to leave cause the music blew.

I didnt want to dance i wanted to gut-check but if the music isnt right you're going to chase the males and femalias out the door quicker than expected.

thats fine if they are content paying $5 million to be an everyday rundown raleigh club.

If not play something that makes good looking guys like myself want to pay $50 to fuck 30 year olds.

this place is more of a restaurant.. going and having drinks with friends is typical. it isn't always about pulling some random ass and/or dancing on some dirty whores
