Ok, if you want to be obtuse about it....

What stores might actually have them in stock?

sundays are your best bet at places like best buy, toys r us, etc

Smaller places like EB, get their shipments around noon on random days

I went to Circuit City yesterday to look at some TV's and there was a sign at the front window saying "Sorry, we are temporarily out of Wii's"

It looked like it had been there since November.

this really is ridiculous. I've had my Wii since February and I am out of games to play. Yet there are still Wii shortages everywhere!

Mario in the Bee suit ~ftw~

I chuckle every time I walk into toys'r'us because they have a "Yes, we have Playstation 3!" sign that has also been there since november

I saw 3 Wiis at the Target in Durham last weekend. I guess I should have bought them, but I'd rather think that someone that really wanted one would be lucky enough to find them rather than have a few extra bucks in my pocket.

Then again, if a few extra bucks = a few hundred, that might be a different story. How much are these things going for over retail anyway?

50 bucks over retail if you're lucky.

yeah, call me lazy, but I just don't think that's worth the hassle of finding a buyer. I do kinda regret not buying one or two and selling them to people like BobbyDigital for what I paid for it though.

oh well.

I thought people were still selling them for a pretty good amount of profit on eBay?

Mine always sell for $350 MINIMUM on eBay, which translates to at least $50 profit, depending on how they pay/where they live.

Might not seem like much, but whenever they come instock at Amazon, I just buy up ~10. Instant $500 profit. And remember, that's a minimum. It's not uncommon for me to make $100/piece.

I mean, that's cool and all, but it still seems like a lot of work for the amount of payoff, but hey any extra cash is nice.

it's hardly any work at all.

I order them online (have a program automatically set up to do this until they sell out).
They get shipped to my front door w/2-day free shipping
I open the box, take the invoice out, close the box.
Print a shipping label online
Drop off at FedEx

I only have to get off my ass for 1 of those steps, and I usually ship 5+ at a time to make it less painful.

Really, it's some of the easiest money you'll ever make.

Amazing you can still do that after 8 months. I think the people buying from you are idiots and I wouldn't pay more than retail out of principle, but whatever.

it amazes me how many people get pissed off because they get a game that sucks.

do people not rent? if i was to go by customer reviews, id be out like $200 or something just for a few games. every game that had a good rating sucked. cooking mama, sonic, bigs, resident evil.

they just werent games for me.

The people that buy them from me are mostly moms, probably think $100 extra is a good deal to get their kid/husband to shut the hell up.

the reviews for cooking mama do suck - gamerankings.com gives it only 62%

i'm not a huge gamer so I stick to only buying games that score above 90% and I usually won't buy unless it scores in the high 90s

you know, if you go to a walmart/target/anywhere that sells wii's outside of raleigh, you are very likely to find a wii in stock

well right, and 2 of my friends got them yesterday from EB Games less than 15 seconds down the road.

The problem is they are only in stock for 15 mins to a day and you still have to get lucky.

And I have called and checked every single place I can fathom that sells them in the general area, and even some places that don't...

So again, if anyone sees them at a random place, please post or pm...

The best way to get a Wii is to find out when certain stores restock the shelves. For most Toys R Us stores, it's Sunday morning, so at those, show up right as they open on a Sunday and you may get lucky.

i cannot believe that people are still having trouble finding Wiis. I'm so glad that I got mine on launch day with minimal wait time. 4 hours in front of Toy R Us, was 1st in line. and damn, there were about 200 people lined up in front of best buy at the same time. Modded with a Wiikey and still loving it. [/fanboi]

n00b question...does wiikey keep you from access online features? I know modding an xbox would require to find an alternate way to access a live type service
