How can you say he is anywhere close to McNabb's level?

based on McNabbs awful performances the past two weeks and Vicks amazing ones.

but McNabb was having a great season prior to the past two weeks. I said he was close, not there...

"Accept the fact that a black QB can be great, okay?"

This has shit to do with him being black (I'm black too) or him being a Falcons QB (I'm a Saints fan).

He has not looked very good as a passer in a majority of his games, and that is the basis of my argument. You can't be a GOLDEN GOD and have deficiencies in your game, and certainly not to the extent that passing was a detriment to him.

His past two games have been awesome, and if guys like you weren't giving him all the fucking glory even when they win despite his play, it'd be much easier for many of us to just come out and say "Wow, Vick had amazing games these past two weeks."

But you don't see how your pestilent babbling about him makes others more vocal when he plays badly, and there's really nothing I can do to help that. You'll have to figure that one out on your own.

ok, i'm gonna list out the numbers for Vick based on his performance THIS YEAR since it has been stated that he is "ballin out" and having a "Golden God" like year, so here goes...

QB Rating: 84 (14th in the league)
Pass Completions: 97 (26th in the league)
Completion %: 55.4 (28th in the league)
Yards: 1199 (23rd in the league)
Yards per Attempt: 6.85 (19th in the league)
Touchdowns: 10 (Tied for 8th)
Touchdown %: 5.7 (5th in the league)
Interceptions: 5 (Tied for 12th in the league)
Interception %: 2.9 (18th in the league)
Rushing Yards: 496 (1st among QB's)
Rushing TD's: 2 (Tied for 3rd among QB's, he also has 2 fumbles, one of which was lost)

ok, so those numbers aren't too impressive... I'm gonna go ahead and add some of the numbers together because I know that is what you're gonna do, so...

Total Total Yards: 1695 (still not top 10)
Touchdowns: 12 (still not top 5, and he has several turnovers)

OK, so there you go... according to you he is a "Golden God" this year and just plain out "Ballin Out" but I don't know what you are basing those assumptions on. Some of his numbers are decent, but the only numbers he has that put him well above average are his rushing yards... but when you throw in his throwing numbers, even his rushing numbers aren't enough to make him one of the better QB's in the league this year. All of these stats are also factoring in his last 2 games, in which he played awesome(a ton of his yards, and 7 of his touchdowns came in just 2 games... which shows his inconsistency as a QB) but overall, I don't think that you can even hold an argument that this year Vick is playing like a "Golden God" and the same is true for every year of his career, and until he matches his passing game with his rushing game you never will be able to win that argument.

^^^Eh.....I wouldn't look too much into those numbers now. Up until the last two games, I would agree that he was having an average to below average year. But if he continues to pass even half as good as he has the last few games, then he'll end up in the Pro Bowl. I'm starting to wonder if his passing might just be a little better than I thought it was.

He has absolutely blown it up the last two games. I don't think this is the right time to be saying he's not that good.

We've gone through this over and over again.

It's not the stats that make Vick great. It's the intangibles. If you can't get past the stats, you'll never understand. Move along.

the only way you can use the "intangible's make him great" argument is after he wins a couple rings... come back later please, stats is how you rate QB's who don't win the big show

i posted all his stats for the year, every single damn thing he has done on the field, and it shows that he is great in some aspects of the game (running the ball), but average or below in all the other aspects... how about you post some facts that show how great he is? The only thing everybody keeps sayin in support of Vick is that "well if you know anything about football you would see how great he is" or "it is the intangibles that make him great, and his stats don't show the intangibles" .... well he hasn't won anything, and his stats aren't great... so what basis for argument do you have???

Vick is 5-2 against a good schedule so far, how is that for a stat?

OMG THE COLTS ARE 7-0!!!!

How good would the Colts be without Peyton??? They could barely win a game.

What is Schaub's record as a starter again? Oh yeah 0-4.

So the offense is made for him to run and yet the haters criticise because he can't throw.

Great argument.

even if you count his TEAMS 5-2 record, that doesn't make all his other stats great. Also, going by that criteria, there are a number of "Golden God's" in the league and they would include:

Jake Plummer
Steve McNair
Rex Grossman
Eli Manning
Philip Rivers
Peyton Manning
Drew Brees
Tom Brady
Brad Johnson

all those guys have 2 losses or less this year and I don't think anybody would argue that ALL of them are "Golden Gods"

^ and you must not know anything about football... yes, their offense is designed to incorporate his great running ability, but it is only really affective when he keeps defenses honest with some throwing as well, that is why they have had such success the past 2 weeks, because he was actually making passes that opened up the run. Just because the offense is designed to take advantage of his running ability, doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to pass the ball.

he sure is putting up points for my fantasy team

he might not be the greatest passer in the world but the fact that he is a dual threat qb makes him mighty dangerous in his position.

if Vick keeps passing the way he has the past 2 games for entire seasons at a time, then yes, he will be a great QB... but having a couple great games a year doesn't make him a "Golden God". This thread was even made BEFORE he had either of those games, but he always has a couple good games a year where he throws the ball great, but he is very inconsistent and his career stats show that.

It's amazing that some of you are still trying in vain to prove he's not a good QB.

He is lighting up the NFL right now.

All this time it was HE DOESNT HAVE THE STATS!!!

And now he's even got the stats and you still can't let it go.

Look at the game by game performance.

Vick was sick against the Panthers. You can't argue that.

He absolutely mauled the Bucaneers, unstoppable that day.

Great against the Cardinals, okay no biggie.

Not good against the Saints but he wasn't the one who got his FG or punt blocked and he wasnt the one who dropped 2 TD passes so dont contort how "bad" he was.

Not good against the Giants. I didnt see all of this game but the parts i saw the Giants defense was making a lot of plays.

Amazing against the Steelers. Made play after play all game, esp in crunchtime. The only "bad" play he had was a downright amazing INT by Polamalu. That guy is sick.

Amazing against the Bengals. Sliced them apart all game long.

Thats 5 terrific games, all of which they won. And 2 "bad" games both of which they lost. Not many QB's affect their teams win/loss record more than Vick does. McNabb usually determines whether his team wins/loses and thats why they are .500 right now. Peyton is a huge determinant but they are 7-0 even though he's had a few off performances because they have more talent than Atlanta.

Rex Grossman had one of the worst games in the history of the NFL (not debatable) and yet the Bears still won. You're gonna tell me Rex had anything to do with that win? The Bears coulda won that game with Marcus Stone at QB. At least he woulda just run on 3rd down instead of throwing INT's.

The Bears won the game. Rex Grossman was the quarterback. Therefore, Rex Grossman won the game.

stfu.

Let me tell you then that STATS mean everything.

That is why the Colts have won the last 5 Super Bowls.

NC State has outgained all but 1 opponent this year in yards, and yet we are 3-5.

Dan Marino has good stats to back up the fact that he was a great NFL QB though, but Vick has neither... so the only thing to base his greatness upon is his supporters personal opinions!

From Scouts Inc. (i.e. people who actually watch game films and dont just look at statistics)

QB Rankings:
Quote :
"
1.(1)
Manning
Peyton Manning
Colts Another spectacular day in last-second win at Denver over good Broncos defense. He threw for 345 yards and three TDs for a 129.2 QB rating. Made great decisions and "took what defense gave them."
2.(2)
Brady
Tom Brady
Patriots Absolutely shredded a good Vikings defense, throwing for 372 yds and four TDs, while running a lot of plays out of the no-huddle scheme . He completed passes to 10 receivers and was a master at identifying matchups and soft spots in zones.
3.(12)
Vick
Michael Vick
Falcons He had another great day -- 291 yards and three TDs -- in a big win at Cincinnati, and he looks totally comfortable in this offense, which features a lot of bootlegs and rollouts. He just plays catch with his receivers.
4.(3)
McNabb
Donovan McNabb
Eagles On a very windy day at home, it was impossible to throw deep and McNabb averaged only 4.7 yds per pass and threw for just 161 yards and 0 TDs. The magic seems to be fading!
"

And from another article by Scouts Inc.
Quote :
"
Vick has been unbelievable over the last two weeks in the way he has thrown the football. He continues to put a lot of pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to move in the pocket and attack down the field. On top of that, his connection with TE Alge Crumpler continues to improve each week. "

Eat me, fellas.

id probably go with Vick. I'd expect the Indy-NE game to be a complete shootout, but Indys run defense is complete garbage so most of their attacking might be on the ground. Vick is such a stud at this point its tough to bench him, but both are good starts this week.
