Bleh, sports games don't count because of all the licensing and company hiking bs. It is a similar concept though. They sell it at that price because the consumer will pay that price.

Besides, those aren't real games anyways .

My quote from previous page:

Quote :
"Would ppl please stop saying the whole "Games used to be $60-$80." Some stores sold it for that, but not all. There comes a time in life when we stop buying games from K-Mart and Sears.

PS: Cartridges were hella expensive compared to DVD's. This is a profit move. Same thing with the wireless controller. If they can sell a Gameboy for the same price, you know they're sticking it to you."

"I think il be getting the PS3

i am sick and tired of the Xbox's abhorrent lack of good Role playing games

this freeroaming shit doesnt come close to real rpgs"

Well if you've done any research at all on the XBox360, you'll see Japanese support, along with RPG support is way up from the Xbox. RPGS coming out within the first year include Mistwalkers two games Blue Dragon and Lost Oddysey, along with Elder Scrolls, FFXI (granted I don't care about this one), and Enchant arm.

I'll be getting the 400 preordered. My reasons include Sony's lack of good equipment...ie so many ps2's I know you have to flip sideways and perform voodoo just to get it to play the games anymore, and the fact that Sonys lineup mainly just includes a bunch of sequels that I don't care for. Seriously...the GTA series is horrible and its the same damn game, no matter how many little frills you add to it. The only thing that would make me want to get the PS3 is a new Tekken Tag w/ online play.

except that you are completely wrong and they were that much in places like EB too and decent priced superstores like best buy were still relatively unheard of.

Yeah, I remember going to Babbage's and being shocked at how expensive all the games were back in the day. Used to go to the flea market on the weekends, since that was the best place to get used games around here.

You realise that he said he didn't like free-roaming RPGs, the genre that was pretty much started by TES. Not to mention that FFXI pretty much qualifies as free-roaming.

I paid all my birthday money ($60 I think) for Super Mario Kart for SNES back when it first came out like 12 years ago.

[Edited on August 20, 2005 at 4:52 PM. Reason : or was it $70?]

games used to cost more because they were on cartridges.
the carts themselves cost more to produce, plus publishers had to pay royalties to the patent owners (nintendo/sega) to produce them.

Analysts have been predicting for some time that the price of games would jump up as they became more expensive to produce.

Please remember this quote before you attack me about the $60-80 remark. Also, first gen cartridge games were expensive, but quickly shot down in price. This was due to the amazing 3 game launches that Nintendo is known for. Companies can charge more since there is less selection and less competion b/w companies.

When games come in on DVD's and there is a huge library on day 1, your argument goes to shit.

i want to see what is so damn secretive about the Revolution controller. They have been hiding it for months b/c they are scared someone will copy it....
Here is my prediction...it will have 1-2 joysticks, a d-pad, buttons like the current controller, triggers, as well as a touchpad screen ala DS.

Those are shoulder buttons, not trigger buttons.

The Z button on N64 was a trigger.

People call them triggers on the PS2 and Gamecube too.

I'm not entirely sure but did the Dreamcast call them triggers?

lets see, what do those buttons usually function as in many of the games that utilize them.......hmmmmmmm.....triggers?

don't be gay on terms like paintball ppl who get their panties in a bunch when you call it a paintball gun instead of a marker.

The L & R buttons on the Dreamcast and Xbox controllers are triggers, but the shoulder buttons on the PS2 controller aren't. It's a question of orientation.
