Its been my experience that yes you can. Just keep it nice and cool, like don't stack shit up around it or anything. With processor shock and all that shit, you're better off I think to keep it on. Just don't move it around too much while its on.

on my laptop, once the battery is 100% charged, it is running on AC power only and not the battery...does that mean current is still running through the battery? i'm not good with electronics

is system standby the same as turning off the hard disk?
My laptop is set to turn off monitor and hard disk after 20 minutes... the monitor goes off but I don't hear the hard disk turn off.
I also have it set to NEVER go to system standby b/c this disconnects the internet

^^i see that they are 2 separate options...but i didn't know if standby incorporated BOTH monitor and hard disk turn off, and the separate options gave you t he choice of doing one but not the other.

it works a lot better if you wire a 110v socket into a 220v plug, the extra power helps the laptop stay running off of the battery

you certainly can but it definitely won't help the life of the laptop.

if you plan on using it for more than 2-3 years I would suggest at least turning it off at night. Also disconnect the battery regardless of supposed circuitry. Its not good to keep a Li/I at full charge. Let it discharge to about 50~60% and store it untul you need it.

^ you can set power management settings so it doesn't charge to 100%. if you just let it charge to 98 or even 90% you're not losing all that much uptime, and you will extend the life of your battery by alot.
