We've heard how everyone feels about stem cell research (See: message_topic.aspx?topic=237081 or message_topic.aspx?topic=304609), so that's not really my question. I was just curious as to what probability folks saw for state-funded stem cell research in North Carolina.

(California, for example, provides $3 billion in state tax-exempt bonds to fund such state-based research for 10 years.)

^^In California, its just been a bunch of lawsuits and red-tape so far. None of that bond money has been used.

it is terribly irresponsible to hinder research into this very promising field because some ill informed bible thumpers think it's going to cause more abortions.

and even if it does cause more abortions, they're mostly to white trash anyways. and as we know, trash begets trash. so actually we're doing the world a favor if we kick this whole thing up a notch.

Honestly, I don't think it'll happen for a long time in North Carolina.

Some bill has been introduced by a Representative to fund using children for scientific experiments, but as it was pointed out, the Democratically run state is in a financial black hole.
