I just did that for my honda V6 and MPG went from 22 to 25 (consistently).

Seems strange, but I haven't done anything else to it.

cleaning the egr so that it actually can circulate exhaust back into the cylinders and displace oxygen and gas will always net better mileage.. I don't see why this is strange

my car went from 25 down to 21-22mpg in the span of 1.5-2 years. i never really understood it, but it didn't matter to me at the time b/c the computer threw no codes and no lights came on. car still runs as smooth as can be.

honda v6's have a problem with EGR buildup. they have a retrofit kit to help reduce/eliminate it, but for people out of warranty, it's easier/cheaper to remove the intake/TB and throw it in a parts washer. remove the TB beforehand (dont' wash it - just spray that with TB cleaner) and keep spare TB gaskets and a nice torque wrench to put it all back together.

it only took about 2 hours to get everything apart and cleaned/put back together.

the egr passageways weren't completely blocked, but they were getting there. i had about <1/4 cup of pure sludge i collected/scraped off.

i used about 4 cans of aresol b12 chemtool and that shit works.
