You know, i'm sick of people bitching about dubya taking a fucking one month vacation. Think about it like this:
Military members get 30 days paid leave a year (in theory). Thats from the highest general to the lowest private. So a shitty little private gets a month's worth of vacation per year. Now, the president runs the damned military.
So remind me again why you faggots are bitching about the president taking a month's vacation, especially when you consider that he's still doing "work" from texas? I don't pretend to know what its like to be president, but I imagine its a shit load harder than being a private...
pissed off because you don't get a month of vacation per year? BITCH AT YOUR COMPANY. THEY ARE THE ONES WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR VACATION DAYS, NOT THE PRESIDENT...

you're an idiot. also, one of my friends just started his first tour with the navy in japan. he won't get to take any leave for at least a year. not a day. so get your shit straight.
also, when someone is president they have a responsibility to do their best all the time to help us out. this is why they're called public servants. 8/31/2005 9:19:14 PM |

Actually, that's pretty much all federal employees.

Well, at least we know what you think of the troops.
I guess being a "shitty little private" on the front lines is a lot easier than being guarded by the secret service 24/7.

if he was able to do so much work from texas, why did he decide to cut his vacation short? it seems like if he had everything he needed in texas, he could have atleast finished out his vacation.

it was 5 weeks. plus, im willing to bet that most people working at companies arent in charge of a war. at my work, if there is a lot of work to do, and there is a deadline coming up, you cant take 5 weeks of vacation. the president has a lot of work to do, and is in the middle of a war.
how you can compare the 2 is beyond me...but youve said dumber things before, so i guess it doesnt really surprise me.

i agree that the President deserves breaks sometimes, but it is not fair to compare him, his job,and his vacation schedule to normal workers or military personnel.
The President's job is to lead the country. At all times. Period.
This is not a job that you can casually take breaks from, or perform from the golf course or bike trail. He only has a limited amount of time to do his job - 4 or 8 years. He's not trying to build tenure or accrue vacation hours like the rest of us are. He has up to 8 years to serve his duty, serve the people, and to make the US a better place to live and and stronger and respected throughout the world, then GTFO and let someone else take over. At other jobs, including your "shitty little private" in the Army, people are temporarily replaceable. If I leave for a week or two, someone else can take over my daily tasks, attend my normal meetings, take notes, make small decisions. While I'm sure W still gets daily briefings before his morning bike rides in Texas, it just can't compare to him sitting in his office in D.C. delegating work and asking questions face to face (assuming he ever does that anyway.....), especially as pointed out, when we are in the middle of a war, that is arguably getting worse still by the day. 9/1/2005 10:06:30 AM |

nice try. i was comparing the private's responsibilities to that of the president's...

like using hackneyed talking points, don't you?

and yet, you are comparing the two as well, are you not? i actually didn't compare the two. I actually implied that there was no comparison. Thus, since I can't make a comparison, I can't really say if a month is appropriate. I did make a comparison to president and private from the standpoint of a private's responsibilities vs. a president's. The implication being that more responsibilities is tougher on a person and might necessitate a longer vacation for some with more responsibilities. I apologize for going over your head with that. I'll try and think along the lines of the talking-points each political part puts out.

Really? when were you president? boy, we sure are lucky to have an ex-president posting on t-dub! besides, I hardly consider planning a one month vacation as being a "casual break." Seems like more of an intentional break to me... I mean, its not like he would schedule all kinds of important shit around this long vacation, and its not like the more menial decisions of the day can't be handled from pretty much anywhere on the planet... its also not like if something really big came up he wouldn't be able to fly back to his magical bat cave in washington which as all the magical president stuff that can only exist in washington...
furthermore, by your logic, the president would never be able to take a break. can we say burn-out?9/1/2005 6:58:48 PM |
