I have a 2002 golf and I noticed today that there is cover to some sort of access panel on the passenger side of the clutch near the floor. What is this access to? Where would I get a replacement cover for it that is not from the dealer?

i doubt you will find an interior trim piece from anywhere other than used (someone parting out a car) or the dealership
