I had previously ran a power cord from the top of my dash to the cigarette lighter in my car for a radar detector. I just got a XM radio unit that runs off of power form the cigarette lighter as well. My question is, will i be able to use the same cord as i did for the radar detector for the XM radio unit? Is it the same voltage and all? 6V? Thanks.

you would have to look up and compare the specs of each device. may have different amp/fuse requirements.

^What Grapehead said...

Most cigarette lighter receptacles will support between 8 and 10 amps of current draw. My guess is that a radar detector AND an XM radio unit won't draw nearly that much, but you'd better check all specs to be sure.

hahahaha, i dont think a car with a 6v battery needs to have a radar detector, it would probably need an orange traingle on the back
