there was a super and turbo charged civic at an autox a few months ago. he got all pissy on the forums cuz he sucked at autox in his 400whp civic. hah. it was a pretty sweet design job. the FI was totally mechanically controlled, no computer, etc

Going for the award for "most instances of forced induction on one engine". Bonus points for two different types, but still loses the overall to the quad-turbo '57 chevy someone built a while back.

my understanding is the SC makes up for the turbo lag. in turn, you can run a bigger turbo.

yeah it does work but its a shit-ton of weight and honestly who races below 3000 rpm anyway?

No, not necessarily.

ok tell me how 2 turbos and a supercharger are going to be lighter than some other combination of (less) power adders to give you that hp level

yeah the weight would be more than made up for when the twin charged car is getting it and the turbo car is still spooling up

or you could just use big turbo and some nitrous.

^^ 4 turbos is different... that could be for quicker spool or packaging or trying to keep the turbine as close to the engine as possible and thus minimize energy loss

but 2 turbos and 1 super charger is just dumb.

^new golf GT has a turbo and a SC. if it is engineered well, it is far from stupid.

1 and 1 i think is fine... but 2 turbos are heavy and lose alot of efficiency but... they improve spool time ... having 2 turbos AND a supercharger is a waste of space i think...

btw...

detriot diesel has been doing the supercharger/ turbo thing since before i was born its not new @ all

It isn't all about hp level or weight, christ. You have said dick about the probably jaw dropping torque band of this setup. I will give you that there is probably a single turbo/sc combination that will probably meet most of the design goals, that is if we don't consider form, which you have certainly neglected thus far.

Having the supercharger on the side like that seems like it would throw the engine off balance.

wtf is he going to do? pull a boat

for all intensive speer puposes what happens below 3000 rpm doesn't really matter especially in an allwheel drive car

" saw that car run which was awhile ago was 12.2ish in the 1/4"

OMG SICK!! IT RUNS 12s!!!

wait... n/m

speed* it was late give me a break

but honestly in a car that has 4.XX gearing and all wheel drive you don't even launch below 3000 rpm
and when you shift unless you are a dip-shit you won't fall out of boost.

Do you think a car built with such a focus on wide torque band (and remember we are ignoring the "form" funciton of this project as it is) might be interested in torque below 3000?

i'd be really interested to see exactly how much weight this whole setup is... probably makes the car even more nose heavy

WHY! dumbass i know thats is obviously the focus but what the fuck are they going to do with it tow something... no no, lemme guess a tractor pull ?

1 turbo and 1 supercharger would suffice easily

and another thing that is dumb is a twin skrew supercharger is WAAAYYY more efficient than old roots style superchargers at high boost and high rpm making the switch-over not tooo beneficial

what this was in my opinion was someone with not to much experience with either superchargers or turbos but some damned fine fabrication skills decided to build something wierd.

OR

its a ricer trying to win a show.
