Why do you have to use a default screen resolution that is unsupported by my Dell LCD monitor? Anything above 75Hz is unacceptable, and anything larger than 1280x1024 also.

Stupid installing Windows XP x64, now I cant even see whats on the screen once it boots into Windows.

perhaps in my frustration I said it wrong, I meant that the default refresh rate is higher than my LCD will support. That combined with the default resolution right after I installed Windows XP x64 produces a message on my Dell LCD saying "Cannot Display This Video Mode"

I have never had this problem before either, but its mainly an issue with Windows not having the drivers for the ATI video card on the CD. I'm using a dual Intel Xeon processor server from SuperMicro, so I'm not exactly using normal mainstream hardware

I found the solution though, if you press F8 for boot options, one option is "Enable VGA Mode" This worked and booted up the computer in 640x480 @ 60Hz, and I can change the screen resolution as I see fit now
