One of my friends started a big ass argument saying that Lil Wayne is definately top five dead or alive. Others were actually agreeing with him....He said lil wayne is on BIG's level...and Nas wasn't top 5. So we just asked everyone we saw today..... Personally my list goes like this in no particualr order : BIG, Pac, Jay, Nas and then in then a toss up with rakim and Krs One. What yall Think? Lil Wayne is definately top five alive but of all time? Is he in the category of Biggie, Tupac, Jay-z, NAs, KRS, Rakim, Big Pun, Redman, MEthod, Kool G, SCarface, JAda, EMinem...etc...

There's no way in hell someone can keep a straight face and say that Lil' Wayne is on the same level as Jay-Z and Biggie. Are you fuckin' serious?

there's absolutely no way that Redman or Jada should be in a list of top rappers of all time.

good going picking the first 10 or so well-known cats that came to mind though.

know what.. .Scarface and Em are even a stretch.

TO TELL MY SUBJECTIVE TRUTH. . . KRS has never been a fantastic MC. He's just had that uniqueness, and pretty much enlightened the world about social consciousness through hip hop. I have never been wowed by his lyricism.

^ I think I appreciate KRS's flow moreso than his actual lyrics. I'd have to say that Scarface is one of my favorite MCs but I'm not sure if I'd say he's the best either.

In Lil Wayne's defense, he's one of those artists that's almost better on mixtapes than his own albums. Don't judge him until you've at least heard more than just his studio albums.

well KRS over Jay-Z is a no-brainer...unless you think Jay was the first one to come out with The Blueprint

Face has longevity and did his thing with the Geto Boys representin lovely...plus Jay says this and that about how much white he flips...Face and his label had the damn Feds investigating...first label for that

and I just like Redman better...Darez a Darkside, Whut thee Album and Muddy Waters are better than (name any 3 jigga albums)

It Lil Waynes defense, dude definately stepped his game up, but I wouldnt list him no where near the top

I cant even list a top list for the reason of I like each one for different reasons

You can put Jay Z and Nas on the same list, as you cant put BIG and Pac together, and its not fair to have any of those four on a list with Rakim, KRS, Kool G Rap, etc because them dudes are pioneers, a whole different echelon of rap

they all have fastly different flows, carved their own niche out in the industry, and made rap better for it.

You got the top concious rappers, you got the top "gangsta" rappers, you got the bling bling rappers, you got the party rappers, you got the story tellers

Your top list is gonna cater to what style you feel the most (IE Tree listed KRS, Face, and Red: I'm feelin all of em ESPECIALLY Scarface, his album was/still is heat, but I dont bump em everyday)

Alot of kids say Pun is in the top, and while I don't agree, never felt the dude like that, I can see why, his flow/wordplay is crazy

That being said, arguments of "tiop instertnumber" are pretty much roundabout ones that I try not to get into because they never go anywhere

J-Hova probably put it best. Lil Wayne mixtapes are crazy...but hes def not top five of all time. The top rapper argument will go on all day, week, month, etc. But I definately will leave Redman and Scarface in my top rappers list...I mean of course I'm gonna put JAy at the top...

i'm the type of kid that go listen to 50 Cent then throw in Little Brother

then listen to AZ like im doin right now

and switch it up to Digable Planets

which is why i like rap/hip-hop/whatever you wanna call it

Say what you want about biters, cliches, etc

But it's the most diverse form of music out there, and it's influence on cultures and society can't be argued
