My worst was 65 in a 45 mph work zone. got reduced to 9 over but I still had to pay the $250 fine.

as far as i know 20+ over has always been felony speeding, just not enforced in the manner it can be.

Yup, what Grapehead said.

Never been pulled for less than 20 over the cop has always told me that they could take my license on the spot. They alway write the ticket at 19 or less over though.

Speeding 20 over is not a felony. It is a misdemeanor. They can arrest you for anything over 15 over. I am not 100% sure on this, but the difference is something like anything less than 15 over is a citation (which you can just pay through the mail) and anything over 15 requires you (or your lawyer) to show up in court.

p.s.
Quote :
"(j1) A person who drives a vehicle on a highway at a speed that is either more than 15 miles per hour more than the speed limit established by law for the highway where the offense occurred or over 80 miles per hour is guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor."

I have a criminal law class with Judge Overby, who does preside in Wake county. I can ask him about this.

I'll send him an email right now in fact...

^hehe, yeah hell no

^^I take back my previous statement. 135 in a 65 beats out 90 in a 25.

(of course I'm making all this up )

170 in a 65 once, and 160 in a 55 plenty of times (motorcycle).

worst i've ever done in a car is 138 in a 55.

I have a 3rd gear rule. I never go beyond third gear when I'm getting on it... that limits me to about 95mph. I get worried about the cops, traffic, or the car getting away from me. So I'd say 95 in a 55 is the worst I've done.

150 was the highest i ever hit (on a motorcycle) and that was just what the speedometer said, who knows how fast i was really going (under 150), in a 55mph zone though so i guess that means 95 over..sold the bike that day actually

well, you don't need to be speeding egregiously in places where traffic could be a factor, and if you're worried about cops, 95 mph is a bad speed. slow enough to get caught, but fast enough to get in big trouble. you either need to slow down 15-16 mph, or turn it up about 40 mph.

you know if we had been caught... we'd still be someones bitch in block A right about now...

If the speed limit was 35, that would mean you would have to be going 182 mph.

I can't imagine a 35 mph road being easy to navigate at 182 mph.

If it was a 55 mph highway then that would mean you would be going 202 mph.

This doesn't sound reasonable.

^^^exactly, i call bs too. especially in a "honduh".

my worst speeding ticket (not traffic offense) is a 103 in a 60 i guess. i've been pulled for 82 in a 35 and let go. fastest i've been on a public road is ~160. highest over the speed limit is probably 100-110 over.

my speedometer only went to 85 when i used to floor it in my truck when i would be coming home after closing at wendy's at 2 or 3 in the morning the summer after highschool. so i don't know what i was doing.

that being said, what exactly is the new ordinance? and what was the old situation that it changes?

no driving pussy...atleast you limit yourself and dont kill people, props for that...i just wouldnt advertise that...kindof makes you sound girly since my sisters jeep will do that in 3rd gear, in control, with her driving...as do some lifted jeeps that ive driven at well over 110 with 35's on them

any of yall ever lit up your tires while already going over 140?

^no, i've driven vehicles that would do it at 110-120 though. owned one vehicle that would do it at 85-90 or less.

my ram would still do 110-115 or so with 40's

yeah...i dont doubt you at all, i find it humorous that people think that just because a vehicle is lifted that it is slow, my jeep smoothed out and rode like a cadillac when going over 90.

i think that i may have avoided a few tickets where i know i was going way over just because the cop thought that a big jeep/truck cannont go that fast or knew that the speedo was off because of the tires/gears and was feeling nice, its happened too many times to be a coincidence
