What do I have to do?

Replace it?

Or read manual to see how you can test your current one.

yeah, its a pretty cut and dry good or bad. there is a certain resistance across two of the terminals and if it is not correct then you have to replace it. look it up

would throttle body cleaner be safer?

or how about electrical contact cleaner.

electrical contact cleaner or rubbing alcohol are best to clean the hot wire elements in the MAF. What vehicle this is on might make a difference as to whether or not it can be cleaned.

it is also very easy to destroy those tiny little wires with a high pressure spray

i had a problem with that (I believe- it's been a while) with my integra... i never figured out what to do before i wrecked it

oh, and I tried alot of stuff, including replacing it itself- it ended up (combined with something else) giving me reaaaaally funny idling problems (Like reving up to 5k rpm and then dropping down to almost stalling when I wasn't on the gas- haha got a lot of people thinking I wanted to race them)

take the sensor off, its a big ass hollow cylinder (well, probalby not so big on that car lol). there are some very very thin wires running across the diameter of it, those are what are being suggested to clean. its not quite as "cut and dry" as somebody said earlier, you usually need an o-scope to actually tell if its working right. touching the wires is pretty much going to fuck them up, spraying them with a good cleaner is the only hope of fixing it...used parts should be cheap and easy to find that car though so you might want to start looking for one.

other possibilities include some kind of fucked up wire, but i doubt it

if you can determine that the part is the problem, i believe honda won't have a problem replacing it.

unless your reciept says otherwise.

mass air meters output a DC voltage, easily monitored by a generic volt meter. The wires are not that fragile that they can't even be touched. I cleaned the wire elements in my air meter with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. No harm done.

on the f-body i was told you needed an o-scope to see if it was actually working...but oh well, it can't be that expensive to just replace the damn thing on his car lol

everyone listen up, if you dont KNOW something, then keep your speculation to yourself. otherwise post a disclaimer that you "dont really know what you are talking about, but..."

it was from a mod on the damn camaro forum asshole, he knew what he was talking about. sure you can see if its getting voltage, but the actual output was a wave that was best looked at with a 'scope. its not worth fucking with if you dont have one already, this guy obviously has no f'ing clue about his car anyways so he should replace the thing and be done with it or take it to somebody to fix
