Dammit...I knew you would make some king of comment on that! Well if watching a movie that goes along with the music from the album is not different than sitting around just listening to the music, then.................I'm sorry

If by "abomination" you mean "silly disco funk awesomeness," then yes.

It's no "Homework", but I liked it. Kind of in the vein of Bangalter's other Roulé releases. It really set a bunch of people up for disappointment with "Human After All", the discoveries were expecting more funkpop and got "Alive" through an overdrive pedal. I figured it would end up breaking out sooner or later, you had the Daft Punk fans who liked Da Funk and those who liked Around The World. But if I had to rank them I'd go:

Homework
Discovery
Human After All
Daft Club

the ones that never made it on a cd like Musique and The New Wave would probably be right below homework and Bangalter's other productions under different names like Stardust and Romanthony would probably be right below that.

They used it on Around the World and One More Time and some other tracks, and a little white noise rerouted through carrier on Daftendirekt. Daft Punk did have quite a mastery over the vocoder, which it's a hell of a processor to use. It's easier for guitarists with the talkbox, they only really have one carrier and modulator, sans minute differences in amps and such. Whe using a synth as a carrier signal it's a good bit more complicated. Modulation signal is still just as easy (sans effects), but those classic Daft Punk vocals wouldn't sound nearly the same if daft punk would have just used a simple 1 osc sawtooth. It's quite an interesting carrier signal they use on all their tracks, more noticably something I hadn't really seen done by anyone else was their interesting use of S&H on the carrier signal to make it kind of step around the frequencies at certain points, and only sustaining at those frequencies.

On top of that, a guitar talkbox isn't even a processor. There's a driver at the end of the tube that fires the guitar signal into the player's mouth, which he shapes with his mouth and then aims toward a mic that picks up the "talking" signal. It's basically just a tiny amp in a box.

of course that's true!. . .

because knowing music is all about liking particular bands.

if you don't like shostakovich's fifth symphony you don't know music!

Daft Punk's Human After All was more of a statement about mediocrity and current music trends, than an actual attempt at a 'Homework'/'Discovery'esqe album.

laugh all you want but it's true, why do you think the album is titled "Human After All"

And I never said it was "shitty" it was just not as complex of an album. The songs are still cleaver, and overall I think the album was a success.

I like human after all, it's not homework or discovery, but its a really good album. Discovery was much more pop and kind of chill. Human after all was more pounding and electric, a return to the "robot". The album itself was really short, but it spawned some great singles (although the music vids did suck comparibly). The max overdrive version of Robot Rock is awesome, and the Peaches and Basement Jaxx mixes of technologic were better than the originals (nice to see after the meh remixes on daft club). I doubt it's a comment on current music trends, the music scene surrounding european house is a bit different, if they wanted to comment on that they would have named their album "Sawtooth+subosc Bassline" or "Hook From A 70's Rock Song Looped Ad Nauseum".

In case anyone else wants to give them a listen.

I was really happy about these singles, a full 4 mixes on a 33, much better than my "One More Time" and "Around the World" singles with only one track on them and a blank B-side.
