i'm gonna replace the entire stereo system in my dad's work truck and install it over fall break. i'm looking for speakers now and in doing research crutchfield is showin that both 5 1/4" and 6 1/2" speakers fit in the door.

this doesn't seem right to me and i know there are a couple of ya'll that have that same model of these beasts and was wondering if someone might know off the top of their head which ones fit better or could pull their door panel off and measure it for me.

its a 6 1/2 hole and a 5 1/4 will fit with the standard adapter plates, i'm pretty sure, all of that era fords used 6 1/2 round and those funky ass 3.5x7 oval speakers

[Edited on October 4, 2005 at 1:09 PM. Reason : fyi:they also uesd those little 4" speakers in the dash]

sounds like the single 4x10 in the center of the dash of my '79 Malibu. That got the boot long, long ago though.
