my barber shaves my neck with a straight blade when he cuts my hair and it gets it hella close. but never used one on the face.

I have, just once. After using the hot towel, applying foam with a brush, etc., they shaved three times against the grain with a cutthroat blade. Red spots all over the place. It could have been the barber, but I did pay 50 bucks. I think it had more to do with sensitive skin. I wouldn't mind, but I had to be at a black tie formal a few hours later! Luckily my neck was covered by the dress shirt. I'd be cautious about trying it again

You cast a spell on your face and it erupts in flames. A few seconds later, your facial hair is gone. n00bs who try it tend to loose their eyebrows the first couple of trials.

yes, but aspirin is derived from salicylic acid

therefore it essentially acheives the same goal

the only difference is aspirin is ingested whereas salicylic acid is topical

I haven't read the whole thread, but definitely:
Shave with a cold face. That is, don't wash your face with hot water first. If you keep it cool, it'll be smoother. Rinse it with cold water first.
After you're done shaving, go over your entire face with an ice cube, especially the areas that usually give you trouble

These two things usually work pretty well for me, but if you still have shaving, just use the beard trimmer on an electric shaver. You'll always look like you have 5 o'clock shadow, but that's better than constantly having a ton of ingrown hairs and irritated skin.

one time after a haircut i got a shave. i have rather sensitive skin, but i rarely cut myself. the old barber however must have cut me several times as i soon realized that i was bleeding rather profusely. the whole lead up to being cut was nice - the wrap, the hot lather, etc; but bleeding all over the place and not getting a particularly close shave made me reticent to try again.
