So I'm trying to decide between a high end tequila purchase for when some friends come out here to visit. Anyone have any input on the merits of Don Julio, Patron, Corazon, or Cabo Wabo Anejo tequilas?

I would get Patron or Corazon for my money. Cabo Wabo is the most overrated piece of shit I've even seen. It would sell for half the price if it wasn't made by Sammy Hagar.

Corazon is great, but Cuervo family reserve is even better. Can't believe i'm bumping Cuervo but the reserve is great (maybe cuz it costs $80)

Cabo Anejo is not what most people who have had Cabo tasted... I like the standard Cabo, but Anejo is a FUCKTON better for sipping...

Patron and Cabo Anejo areprobably about even in my opinion... never had Corazon or Don Julio

What I mean, is its got a taste reminiscent of pineapple, its much more fruity than usual tequilla, kind of like Captain Morgans Tattoo is a fruity rum, I feel that Patron is a fruity tequilla, don't know what thats so hard to stomach.

When buying tequilla, the secret is to buy 100% blue Agave. If not, you are just buy tequilla flavored liquor. Your average Cuervo just doesn't cut it, and I know 1800 used to not be 100% blue agave, but it might be now.

Don Julio is really good
Gand Centario is about the best you can buy in a liquor store around here.
Jose Cuervo 100% Blue Agave isn't bad, its fairly affordable, but doesn't hold a candle to the other two.
Patron isn't bad, just not my thing.

Of all those, Cabo is definitely the best choice. Straight from Van Hagar himself. No, but serously, Cabo Wabo is definitely the best. Its delicious, no salt, no lime, you can even swish it before you swallow. Deeeeelish.

Sauza Tres Gen. is a very good value. I am partial to Herradura Silver.

Random tidbit: Cheap tequila (i.e. Jose Cuervo) is 20% vodka, thats why it burns
