A cat showed up on our deck Sunday. He's extremely friendly to my neighbor and I, so I figure he has to be someone's pet, but he doesn't have a collar. My neighbor fed him yesterday, so that's probably one of the reasons he likes being here so much.

I'm planning on taking him to a vet when I have time tomorrow afternoon to see if he has a microchip or anything like that. Any other suggestions?

Don't have a digital camera, sorry.

Very cute cat, though. Seems to be pretty healthy, and very affectionate.

http://www.spcawake.org/lost.html Go to the "what to do if you find a pet" on the bottom of the page. Gives some really good advice. Hope you find the owner. Meanwhile I hope you or your neighbor will find it in your heart to bring this baby inside. If not post here & I am sure someone will foster the kitty until its home or a better home is found.

I've posted a description and contact info on a couple of websites for local animal shelters in Winston-Salem. I'm about to go get some food for him, so he won't go hungry while I'm waiting to hear back.

What part of W-S? There's an animal rescue on Miller St. behind Q'doba.

Yeah, I found that when I was looking around the websites. That's probably where I'll take him to see if he has an ID chip.

I don't mind keeping him around here in the meantime, though.

i think more often than not, a lot of people get to have their cats just because they wander up; at least that's what's happened three times out of the four cats on my block back home

The cat's very happy right now. He devoured the food I gave him, and he barely leaves the little bed I made for him. No word from an owner yet.

I still can't believe someone would abandon a cat this friendly.

I'd say, keep doing everything you can to find the owner. Go buy a disposable camera maybe and draw up some simple flyers. After some time and stuff, if you can't find an owner, then I would suggest either keeping him or putting up ads in papers and stuff to see if you can find him a good home. The classifieds on this website is another place to put an ad. Whatever you do, please don't take him to a shelter where they euthanize.

i work for Second Chance Pet Adoptions. You should check out our website for details on contacting us about it - but we accept stray cats and have a great no-kill facility where they can be adopted. However, know that if you breathe even a word that it's your cat or you are taking care or it instead of just mentioning there is a stray cat hanging around... we wont accept it.

It might help if you describe the cat and also the neighborhood you're in. Somebody else here might have a clue as to whose pet it is.

Doubtful since I'm in Winston-Salem...I've already posted "found" ads in the paper and on a couple of websites recommended by the local humane society.

^^They only cover Wake Co., right?

"I normally don't do this, but the other night after a show I met this woman who was really nice and I went back to her place. She had the best pussy...

What?! Oh come one, I'm talking about her cat. See, that's what I'm talking about. You can't say anything these days without someone taking it dirty. Now, I'm sorry but that's just wrong.

That cat was the best fuck I ever had."

You can take it to a vet or an animal shelter to find out if it's been microchipped. If so they will be able to contact the owner.
