Quote :
"NC State has landed a commitment from New Creation (IN) standout guard Trevor Ferguson.
The 6-foot-5 guard originally inked with Pitt but opted not to play for the Panthers. Ferguson enrolled at New Creations, a prep school, instead of sitting out a season because of NCAA transfer rules.

"It's a done deal, and he has committed to NC State," New Creations head coach Tony Cole said. "Today will be his last official day at New Creations. He will be able to work out with the team at North Carolina State as much as he can and can also add some weight.

"He will be considered a transfer because of NCAA rules, but he can enroll right now and that was important for him."

Through seven games Ferguson led New Creations in scoring and received high praise from his head coach.

"I think the kid is a star," Cole said. "He's a high-energy kid who can do everything well on the court. We've had 15 Division-1 kids here in the past four years, and he's the best we've had, without a doubt."

Ferguson received his fair share of offers after enrolling at New Creations, but NC State's overall appeal may have been the deciding factor.

"I think he made a good decision," Cole said. "Kentucky was there, Michigan State was there... he had a lot of good offers on the table. NC State's in the ACC, it doesn't get any better than that.

"NC State with their recent success, the ACC, and everything they had to offer as a program was the biggest thing."

Stay tuned for more from Pack Pride on Trevor Ferguson, as the 6'5 guard will be enrolling at NC State in January.

I assume he won't be able to play for a year, since he's considered a transfer according to the article.

He should be able to practice with the team though.

Looks like he has some good range and can pass decently, although probably against some weak competition.

from the video, he's got a good lookin shot, and it looks like he can create for himself, which would be really nice to have sometimes. of course as mentioned before, this is probably weak competition...seemed like he had somebody 2 feet shorter than him guarding him at times. i did like when he broke the 3 man trap press by himself. woulda liked to have seen a bit more showin off defense, but thats not normally the focus of these videos. i wish it was.....i get it after 3 videos, he can hit a 3 pointer when he gets a skip pass and the zone collapsed leaving him open.

Whenever his first day of enrollment is, he can play a year later I think

So if he starts tomorrow, for instance, he can step on the court exactly a year from tomorrow and be eligible

I think....

Transfer rule would be 2 semesters...so he can play the day after Fall semester 2006 ends. In other words, he will be eligible to play at the beginning of Christmas Break '06.

So that means if he did nothing this season and sat at home then decided to come sign up at state it would be another year?

I got the impression that he would be able to start in the beginning of next season.

I doubt Herb makes anybody cut their hair. Melvin had a fro for a while. Mike O'Donnel had some shaggy ass hair (maybe thats why he transfered )

He chose us over Pitt, Baylor, South Florida, James Madison, and New Orleans. Not the best group of schools in basketball.

I'm sure the fact that he broke both his wrists deterred a few schools.

Trevor committed to Pittsburgh, and enrolled there for summer school before he left school... That is why he is considered a transfer and will be eligible in the fall.

the schools like baylor, james madison and pitt were recruiting his from high school, and he didnt even play his senior season or AAU. The big schools backed off of him when he broke his wrists, Kentucky an MSU are teams that have recently looked at him

kids style reminds me of a fast evtimov though, gonna be a tough matchup downlow for the big men, thats why teams have trouble with evtimov cuz hes so smart and fundamental and can really shoot the 3 well for a big man, this kid hopefully will fill that role
