- Back in High School, my aunt and uncle got me a used book and a 3-pack of white socks with stripes on them. As old as I may be, the striped white socks were definitely a decade out of style even then and no longer sold in stores.

- As a wedding present, one of my parents' friends gave my wife and me a crystal vase that had clearly been sitting in a garage for the better part of a decade. They didn't even bother to wipe the dust off of the packaging. Inside the box, the vase had a nice layer of small insects, both dead and alive.

- Back home in Greensboro, we had a neighbor who was very old, and was pretty batty. She always bought me a birthday present, but never got one for my sister on her birthday. However, the caliber of presents didn't exactly send my sis into a jealous rage...

A XXXL pink shirt with a bald eagle and the american flag in the background. A kids toy golf club set. It came with a plastic driver about 3 ft. long and 3 imatation plastic golf balls(they could have at least been whiffle golf balls). I was probably about 17 when I got this. XXXL wife beaters. I think she thought i was always 5 and that i'd grow into these clothes. There are more, but I can't remember all of them...

What is the worst gift you have ever received, for holidays, birthdays, or other occasions?

- my aunt and uncle gave me some matchbox cars. i was about 19 at the time.

- every year this batshit crazy lady that goes to the same church my parents do shows up at the house both at christmas and on my birthday with a bag roughly the size of new hampshire completely filled with those tiny reese's peanut butter cups. i used to like them.

- when the nintendo 64 came out, i was a freshman in college. the parents asked what i'd like for christmas and i said a nintendo 64. on christmas day i opened a bright, shiny new dull, not shiny OLD atari 2600. at the time i thought that sucked ass, but i have appreciated it in recent years.

remember "Secret Santa" stores in elementary school? Those places were havens for bad gifts.

-my sister bought me 2 pencils with trolls on one end when i was about 9.
-she bought me a basketball season preview magazine another time. it was a year old.

i think a $5 McDonalds gift certificate wins though, because 1) it can get you like, what, 1 meal, maybe? and 2) I hate McDonalds, it makes me sick everytime I eat there.

My ex girlfriend's grandparents got me this old looking black leather overnight back that looked like it had been made of recycled hangbags. I had no idea what to say... I looked in shock for a minute and then of course thanked them like it was the best present I had every received.

Thinking back on it now... a silver necklace (the old ghetto ones people used to wear) from my ex was the worst gift ever. I never wore it and I saw it in my closet the other day and was wondering wtf she was thinking.

A small toilet plunger from my brother.

A XXL Mickey Mouse footie pajama set when I was 16. Apparantly my aunt and uncle thought I was a really fat 5 year old.

My step mom's great aunt or something sent me a children's small sized set of footy pajamas when I was about fifteen.

My aunt Diana constantly gives me sweaters and shit that come in random and unpredictable sizes.

My aunt Judy gave me an IOU to come visit her for Christmas one year. When I didn't take her up on it, she "gave" it to me again for my birthday.

My uncle Mike gave me a keychain last year, the kind with an LED light on it. He had given one to everybody, myself included, the year before. A few years before that, he gave me a shitty electronic organizer because he knew I was "into electronic stuff". He gave me a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog, the first one, for Genesis a good year or two after the Playstation was out.

I did not own a Genesis.

my aunt gave me a horrible gray sweater that had a big penguin on it. to make it even worse, below the damn penguin it had "Penguin" written out. and last but not least, the worst part of it all was that the damn thing was wrapped up inside of an abercrombie box.

Dumb as it is, it always seems to come in handy, so I can't complain.

My (used to be) friend in NY bought me a necklace and earring set that looks like it was made out of fishing line and snot. All these clear wires going in every possible direction with little green plastic things stuck all over it.
He also got me a hideously ugly knitted hat. I live in HAWAII. Even if it wasn't ugly as hell, when would I wear it?

When I was 11 my aunt gave me a bible. I'm talking ghetto 99 cent bible. I went outside and set it on fire. Needless to say, I was grounded and my aunt thought I was the anti christ for years.

but she also gave me a sesame street book when i was 16. (10+years too late)

last night i received about a dozen pairs of ugly christmas socks that olny fit my 5 yr old cousins. i threw them in their bags.

i leave tomorow morning on a 6 am flight and i got $100 worth of gift cards to the local mall...

In high school I bought a South Park wrist rest for a friend, then never saw him again (he moved) so it stayed in my closet wrapped. When my parents moved, they packed up everything that was in my "room" for me. I guess she decided to unwrap it and see what it was ... She gave it back to me as a gift from her and my Dad a couple years ago.

Some poor soul in my family is getting a "Walmart Exclusive Productions" DVD gift set ... I saw it in her hiding spot when I was looking for tape.

The worst was getting an identical squeegee the following year.

My great Aunt gives me and my brother the worst gifts ever every year

This year we got a subscription to Readers Digest

Other gifts in the past have included ties from the 1970's, rusted ballpoint pens, clothes two sizes too small, etc

Everything smells of mold as she buys stuff cheap and keeps it in her closet for years to gift out later - she's even given us moldy food before

I hold out hope against hope that she leaves us her mountain house near Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain...it has 4 bedrooms and an amazing view of the blue ridge mountains (well, it will when we clear the trees she's let grow up in front of the house)
