for someone who knows a bunch of computers i would think you would know that CPU also CAN denote the system itself aka no monitor/printer/kboard/mouse.

I'd be cautious about that OCed CPU, even though with good enough cooling on that sucker, it will still reduce the life span of it.

processor runs AT LEAST 10 degrees cooler than pentium 2.4c AT 2.4 with retail heatsink.

if you price out this same computer from newegg with new parts it will be in the vicinity of $1050. i took processor value to be $100 which is what 2.4C run from ebay. office 2k3 and corporate norton are licensed LEGAL copies worth alone probably another $400. so new this is easily $1450. im offering almost half of that price.

please dont talk shit if you dont intend to buy stuff or if you have no fucking clue what you are talking about.

kthxbye

$1076 as priced new from newegg.com without any software included.

http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/WishList/wishlistCurrent.asp?BundleExist=N

geil ram they dont have in stock so i chose the cheapest 2x256mb ddr500. 2.4c they also dont have so i chose the cheapest pentium 4 available-- $121 pentium 4 with 533mhz bus.

^^hHahaha so true, i thought the same thing synapse.

It's a nice setup, but it isnt worth 850 on here. Part it out on ebay and get your money out of it, its worth a LOT more in pieces.

well at least i dont have do all the work. so you never used "just the CPU" phrase to describe your computer w/o monitor and other devices?

^^i already explained ebay and why i dont want to do it. maybe there are some people here who are interested. i have $725 offer through PM, so obviously some people are not ass-clowning around.

no, cpu is central processing unit

i think the difference here is:

Quote :
"Major : Chemical Engineering and Chemistry "

and
Quote :
"Major : CPE "

no biggie, i was just pointing out you would just probably get more views if you had said computer for sale with specs etc.

i know what is CPU, i know what it stands for and what it does. i have built and troubleshot plenty of systems to be aware of it.

people often denote CPU as the computer itself. one without monitor, keyboard and mouse. technically it is incorrect, but it is still a commonly used phrase. im guessing since cpe is your major you have to be pointlessly anal-retentive about it, so ill pretend i understand.

cheers

btw, forgot to mention few things.

i have almost all the original boxes for this and warranty paperwork.
geil ram has lifetime warranty on it.
ATI has another 2.5 years of warranty.
processor another year or so...
hd another 2 years
mobo another year or so.

forgot about other parts, but i can check if interested

Me and synapse dont need warranties (major = CPE/EE's) nor software(again major = CPE/EE's) so minus $600 and bring it down to $250 for all those CPEs present...

I was confused if he was just selling a processor or an entire computer, until he explicitly said so.

I never hear anyone call a computer a "CPU" unless they are really old and don't know what they are talking about.
