i have a HP deskjet 3820 that's on the fritz. it spools the document but just spits out blank paper. In addition, the ink cartridges don't move to the center when the cover is opened. The HP tech support person said it sounded like a carriage stall and had me try these steps:

unfortunately, that didn't resolve the issue, so he said it was probably a hardware problem.
is it worth my time to find someone who might be able to fix whatever's screwy, or should i just buy a new one? 2/7/2006 9:08:48 PM |

It'If you find you almost entirely print black and white, you might just want to go invest in a laser printer. 120 bucks for a samsung ml2010 that gets about 1000 pages on the starter cartridge and up to 6000 pages on the refill cartridges and doesn't have nearly as many moving parts to break as an inkjet printer is a good investment.
If you print too much color, you're stuck with inkjets unless you want to shell out 300+ for a basic color laser printer. 2/9/2006 10:18:17 PM |

^good advice, but i don't print all that much stuff...just enough that having to get quota to print papers on campus is annoying. so getting a laser printer probably isn't worth it right now.
anyone think they could fix this? 2/11/2006 1:52:34 PM |
