This weekend at the All-Star game they are celebrating what they are calling the "Next 10" to go along with the 50 greatest players of all time.

Kobe is the front-runner lock to be in the "Next 10" but one guy from foxsports says:

"Kobe is top 5 of all-time"

so i was wondering what everyone thought about kobe being top 10 of all time

my ten are this as of now:
1)MJ
2)Wilt
3)Russell
4)Magic
5)Kobe
6)Bird
7)Kareem
8)Shaq
9)West
10)Hakeem

you are such a fucking n00b.

how old are you?

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF OSCAR ROBERTSON?

THAT BITCH AVERAGED A TRIPLE DOUBLE.

Kobe is purely a scorer, nothing more.

you cant be top 10 of all time strictly based on the fact that you are great in one category.

this is retarded.

yeah, i say top 10 because he's too good of a scorer to be left out. he can't win by himself, but he's the best scorer in the league right now

the way i see it in the time that each great player played there were many other great players
MJ had, magic, hakeem, drexler, ...
magic and bird
and so on

but right now there arent that many and still kobe doesnt stand out glaringly

John Havlicek, Karl Malone (even though i hate him, he IS arguably the best statistical Power Forward of all time), George Mikan, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe.

Where in the fuck are they at on your pathetic list?

DON'T EVER, EVER QUESTION ME ABOUT MY BASKETBALL KNOWLEDGE, YOU FUCKER.....

I HAVE FORGOTTEN MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW.

7) Oscar
8) Julius Fuckin Irving

Pistol Pete wasn't that great in the NBA and Rick Barry played too much ABA ball to be considered.

Shaq is absolutely a top-10 player. His impact is obvious when looking at the Lakers and Heat before and after.

Hakeem and Maravich never dominated the game the way Shaq did during his time in Los Angeles.

It is very discouraging to see potential knowledgeable lists have Wilt over Bill Russell on every one of them. I guess because all you see is Wilt's popularity and Russell's quite demeanor off the court. Does anyone know why we have a three second violation of the painted area? I seemed to have forgotten. Also, ask anyone who lived in that era who they'd rather have, Wilt or Russell.

people putting malone and/or shaq over hakeem are on crack

same for magic over bird

Quote :

i hope you arent trying to imply that the heat are winning this year b/c of shaq

or last year for that matter

and the lakers are in playoff contention this year as a one man team

even when they were together, shaq had to come out at the end of game b/c he is such a liability at the free throw line.

kobe will be top 10, but it is too early

I agree. I would barely have Kobe top 10 in the NBA right now.

1) Duncan
2) Garnett
3) Lebron
4) Iverson
5) Dirk
6) Wade
7) Amare
8) Brand
9) McGrady

I would dare say I would take any of those over Kobe.

even iverson is better than kobe

if i were to start a team with the players playing today, and i could pick one, I'd pick all these people b4 kobe

Lebron James
Dwayne Wade
Dirk
Duncan
Shaq
Amare Stoudamire
Steve Nash
Elton Brand
Iverson
Garnett
Julius Hodge

Dirk - maybe some nights on one end of the floor
Duncan - tough to control the game at C
Shaq - now?? hahahhaha
Amare Stoudamire - ton of potential, but who knows
Steve Nash - maybe some nights on one end of the floor
Elton Brand - hahahaa
Iverson - hurt too much
Garnett - has proven he cant carry a team or be clutch
McGrady - cant carry a team, can be clutch in some cases

No love for Bob Cousy?
Earl "The Pearl" Monroe?

(Okay, maybe not top 10..)

(And gg for those of you mentioning Jerry West)

The all "what could have been and would probably make these lists" team:
1) Earl "The Goat" Manigault
2) David Thompson
3) Len Bias
4) ??

no intelligent basketball mind would have russell over wilt. u have to be retarded. i would like to see some kind of proof that the 3-second rule had anything to do w/ russell. it was because of wilt. wilt avg'd more pts, boards, and assists per game. he was a better all around player than russell, and thats not really opinion, its fact. before u start bringin up the rings, do u really think russell would have won so many without cousy and havlicek?

Maybe I just have a flawed memory of him...and he was like 195 years old when I saw him play... but the Chief just didn't have it in him. (Off night, I guess )

That WAS my whole point, that Wilt forced the 3 second rule, AKA he cherry picked his way to that 100 point game against guys no taller than 6-6, he was a beast, I'd love to see Wilt today against Shaq, it would be interesting. Russell was the best center of all time, you've gotten caught up in all the hoopla around Wilt. Russell had the better supporting cast, no denying that. Shaq, who has knowledge of the game even said Russell was the greatest center, and his game is much more similar to Wilt's. Wilt was more dominant of a player because he shot so much, but no way would I take Wilt over Russell, and I'm not even using the head to head matchups in my claim, which most people think is the only way to compare players.

so ur using shaq's opinion for ur claim? im still not sure how you're saying russell was better, especially without using stats. wat are you using, besides what shaq siad? im not caught up in any hoopla, i fully understand the dominance of bill russell, dont get me wrong, but c'mon, with wilt u have a GREAT ALL AROUND player, with russell u have a marginal offensive player and a great rebounder and defender. still takin wilt over big bill any day of the week, and twice on sundays.
