"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney's Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse."

that is from his attorney.

Because mediamatters.org is such a non-partisan and reliable source. You might as well link to democratic underground and the DNC for the latest in objective journalism.

Rush hasn't had any relapses, and if you paid attention you'd know that he just settled the 2 1/2 year case, and he still gets to enter a plea of not guilty.

convicted and they ought to be sent up"

The answer to this disparity is not to start letting people out of jail because we're not putting others in jail who are breaking the law. The answer is to go out and find the ones who are getting away with it, convict them and send them up the river, too."

It wasn't his fault that he became addicted to freakin' painkillers, it isn't like he just picked it up out of the blue. He had to take them b/c the alternative could have ended his career in radio, and his voice happens to be his greatest asset. But don't let the truth of the matter get in the way of an ignorant rant.

Rush has forgotten more about politics than you will ever know.

Besides, if the "Reverend" Jesse Jackson can have a kid out of wedlock with his secretary and get away with it, surely the loving, forgiving, and compassionate left can overlook Rush's previous addiction to a painkiller. It's not like he banged a fat chick in the Oval Office, folks.

First of all, I think you should read that last sentence before you ever post again. Second, if I ever have an addiction (hopefully not), I'll use your defense that it wasn't my fault I became addicted. I'm sure that will work well.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care who they are, I hate seeing people become addicts, and hope they can recover, even Rush. However, they should have to face consequences for their actions. Rush has said it himself, those who violate the law by doing drugs (which includes abuse) should be in jail. Go ahead and defend him not facing consequences even though he has said that people like him should be behind bars.

Do some research and find out why Rush was taking oxycontin to begin with instead of spewing stuff that you obviously have no clue about.

Be pissed off at the legal system, not Rush.

Do you people really equate an addiction to a painkiller like morphine or oxycontin to be on the same level as herion, PCP, cocaine, etc?

The drug he was taking isn't illegal, per se. You're taking what he said and what he became addicted to completely out of context.

why was he taking a pain-killer? probably for pain.

i dont know how to break this to you, but many people become addicting to a substance that is first used to control pain. im very sorry you didnt know this. its not really a good idea to flaunt your idiocy like that.

Bill Clinton's brother said that his nose is just like a vacuum whenever cocaine is in the room. Maybe he and Rush can share a cell.

Rush hasn't been convicted of anything. There's a whole bunch of leftwingers who will be joining Rush if you people had your way and he was sent to jail for drug use.

"I want to let you read along with me a quote from Jerry Colangelo about substance abuse, and I think you'll find that he's very much right…"I know every expert in the world will disagree with me, but I don't buy into the disease part of it. The first time you reach for a substance you are making a choice. Every time you go back, you are making a personal choice. I feel very strongly about that."...

What he's saying is that if there's a line of cocaine here, I have to make the choice to go down and sniff it….And his point is that we are rationalizing all this irresponsibility and all the choices people are making and we're blaming not them, but society for it. All these Hollywood celebrities say the reason they're weird and bizarre is because they were abused by their parents. So we're going to pay for that kind of rehab, too, and we shouldn't. It's not our responsibility. It's up to the people who are doing it. And Colangelo is right.

He doctor shopped to get over 2,000 pills in six months. That would have killed jackleg.

Not to mention, he isn't going to jail if he continues treatment. And the only reason he hasn't been convicted is because they let him off easy. Sure is nice doing rich people drugs.

What the fuck does Bill Clinton's fuckup brother have to do with ANYTHING?!? Nobody voted for Roger Clinton. Now W, on the other hand...

Do you think it's acceptable for athletes to use illegal steroids and other performance enhancing drugs? It could easily be argued that their careers depend on them.

If somebody working the night shift needs to take a little speed to stay awake, is that okay?

This isn't a big story because he used drugs, it's a big story because he's a hypocrite about it.

Also, your defense of "it wasn't his fault" is BS because if this was some black guy in the ghetto, you sure as hell would be blaming it on him.

Plus, an addiction to painkillers IS just as bad as an addiction to coke/heroin/whatever.

haha....you idiots....read the story...this is the same stuff that has been going on for the last two years. the DA down there has been running around tryign to find something to charge him with. Limbaugh's lawyer and the DA finally came to this deal.

The lawyer also issued a statement that Limbaugh has been drug free for two years. Drop the "still an addict" stuff and the drop the "OMG RUSH IS STILL DOING DRUGS" stuff. you look like partisan morons.
