He committed to NC State rated as a 1* recruit and today was taken #22 overall by San Francisco.

Combine Results:
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 241
40 Yrd Dash: 4.43
20 Yrd Dash: 2.62
10 Yrd Dash: 1.55
Wonderlic: 43
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 23
Vertical Jump: 39 1/2
Broad Jump: 10'4"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.21
3-Cone Drill: 6.90

Everyone was caught up in his physical feats but his Wonderlic score is PHENOMINAL. Let me out it this way. No quarterback in draft history has had a Wonderlic score recorded that is higher than what Manny Lawson scored. Jason Maas of Oregon got a 43 in 1999 and there had been a rumor that Ryan Fitzpatrick of Harvard scored a 50 (but he actually got a 38 in 9 minutes. still insane). As one person on PP exclaimed: this has got to be the highest score by a defensive player ever.

Great interview from 2004.

thanks msb2ncsu, for this thread and that article. I don't recall reading that before so it was definitely a good read. That part about the squirrels made me LOL.

Having Manny sit in front of me in IE 311 will be one my coolest memories from college. Never once doubted his abilities since his freshman year.

THANK YOU MANNY!!

43 on the wonderlic? damn he is a freaking genius. He will make a great linebacker. Wish he was on the panthers, though.

Don't think he's graduating

He was a Civil but switched Junior year. Supposedly he had a rough time in Statics... was taking it his Jr. year, and switched to Industrial Engineering

i appreciate manny lawson, wish he would have came back to track for the ACC championships inddoor, lol

two years ago he won the long jump and placed 2 or 3 in the high jump at the ACC championships in clemson (AJ Davis got on the podium in both as well)

without even practicing, just completely off the gate

I know this dude will not onlyraise hell in the NFL, but hell never make us ashamed of him like some other players

speaking of wonderlic, what did Mario get? I searched and nothing came up. They had all his other measurables except that. I found Rivers had 30 and Torry had 11.

Quote :
""They had a few questions that were basically 'are they the same? Neither-nor.' There were a lot of questions like that, some others where you had to make a triangle out of the given objects, stuff like that," North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams said.

"Really, the only thing was you had to catch and pay attention to what you were reading and put it together. There really wasn't anything that difficult. Just had to focus.""

haha! ran across this while googling. The part about hiding the easter eggs was funny.
Quote :
"Young then received a pass, took the test again and scored a 16. OK, so now we know he can read. But a 20 on the Wonderlic is indicative of about an I.Q. of 100. A score of 6...or a 16... means that Vince Young could hide his own Easter eggs and still have fun trying to locate them."

okay, now back to Manny...

^yea i love Vince Young, but he has an uncle to some degree that is associated with the track team for St. Aug, and the man says Vince is really dumb as a board but he knows football and is a good kid

but who cares about intelligence in the NFL
