intel graphics suck. dont bold that. the 128 mb is shared. that just makes slowdown worse in good games.

Purchased in august- as i previously stated, i have full accidental coverage on this computer. I had a power surge last month and shipped it in to be fixed. They were unable to fix it cost efficiently so they replaced it with a BRAND NEW one.

I actually bought a used IBM notebook during the month it was in and don't really have the need for both. the IBM is much smaller and lighter and meats my needs more now.

hope this helps- sorry for the confusion

Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to sell this laptop. You're not gonna get what it's worth on TWW/

Really, if I had the money I would cop this. I used one of this laptops before, and I was so impressed with it that I now rate these laptops higher than those made by Dell - of course IBM makes the #1 laptop.

Have you replaced the fan on yours yet?

The fans toshiba uses for these is a complete piece of shit. Mine died after ~15 months & from talking to the repair guy, that's all I could expect out of it.

Just be warned, you will probably have to replace the fan before long.

Pretty good laptop otherwise though.

They are 949 new right now, with those upgrades aftermarket you will pay about 1100. Or you can wait for the next big coupon and get it for less. Several e1705's have sold on ebay with similar or better specs in th last couple of weeks for 7-850 bucks.

OK, you may be able to find a "comparable" computer but same or better specs. not gonna happen for that price

they might be 949 new but ur not going to get the upgrades for $151 more. The majority of Dell notebooks only have 40gb hard drives so you HD upgrade would cost that

so they are prolly used whereas this is brand new and secondly- do they a two year "Complete Accidental INsurance" package. I doubt it and to purchase one form dell it has to be a new PC (u can't insure and old one) and it will run you about $370 a year. Mine is already paid and covered for the next 2 years.

NEON:

Here's the links for the dells you are talking about:

The first one is the $959 new w/ 1.66gh processor and 60 gb HD etc....

http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/entnb_e1705?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

And second- is with the upgrades that dell offers. It still won't offer everything that the toshiba will but with some ur lookin at minimum $1573

yes you can for sure- i saw that one on their web site- still wouldn't spend less then $15oo with the accidental insurance on it.

i am not expecting to get $1000 for it though- hence you could get everything you would for $1500 and then some for a much lower price-

No they didn't. They sent you a refurbished one. No company ships out RMAs from manufacturing. Items that cannot be repaired quickly get shipped to a factory where said items are repaired to pass all QA tests that newly manufactured equipment are run through so they can warranty it as if it were new, but IT IS NOT NEW.

actually- if you want to research it, this is in fact a NEW notebook because when i sent it in for repair, this model was not yet discontinued. Toshiba's warranty states that if the pc is not repairable they will replace it with either : a NEW replacement of the same model or- if it is discontinued (they cannot replace with the same model) they will replace with the closest comparable machine they have available off the shelf. which also means that if this laptop were to kick the bucket next year sometime then the owner would get a new free upgrade-

why am i arguing the quality of this machine with people withough interest in it? if i wanted to discuss this shit i would have posted in tech talk. this is classifieds- so if anyone is interested i purchasing please shoot an offer or ask a questions based on interest in buying.

And by "reserves the right" they mean, if at all possible. EVERY electronics manufacturer does it this way.

120b drive is 125 bucks

2gb is 150 bucks. Including shipping.

You can sell the drive and memory it comes with on ebay for ~100. So forgive me, its about a 175 dollar upgrade.

And a Core Duo 1.66ghz is better than a 1.73 P-M, it gets better battery life, and is jus as powerful.

Dell coupon codes are out constantly that drop the e1705/9400 to below the 800 dollar level. Plus Dell's come with XP Media Center Edition instead of home.

The upgrade for accident coverage is about 120 bucks.

So, if this was not a refurb and is actually a new machine, it would be worth about 900 bucks. You will easily be able to get a grand or more for it on ebay, so you might as well take it there

That is assuming that someoen wants to piece the upgrades together themself and not through dell in which case it would be a lot cheaper. Thanks for the ebay input though- I just hate on selling stuff on ebay so figured i would start with TWW and Craigslist first.
