In 2027, in a chaotic world in which man can no longer procreate, a former activist agrees to help transport a miraculously pregnant woman to a sanctuary at sea where her child's birth may help scientists save the future of mankind.

Holy damn this movie looks sweet. It's kind of a weird reverse Y: The Last Man, but I don't give a shit. Written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the director of Y tu mamá también and the third Harry Potter movie, starring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. I want to see it.

Even though the trailer seems to give it all away.

Also, gg Michael Caine. You look silly.

Since I'm gay, though, I watched A Little Princess the other night. That's one of his best, really.

The book sucked. But the movie looks like it's got a lot of things that are different. Plus it has Clive Owen. And I'd pretty much club baby seals for Clive Owen.

looks intriguing.

even if all women were infertile, humans and clones could be grown in labs. like in "the island", but on a simpler and real way. civilization can continue.

yeah, this movie is pretty awesome.... but at the same time, I had higher expectations.

I thought it was going to be a contender for best movie of the year, but I think The Departed is easily better. For me atleast.

^ please elaborate. I loved the splattered-blood effect on the camera during the uprising scene.

That shot is one of the two (and I actually read that the blood on the lens there was an accident). It is a six minute long shot with a lot of action and what I can only imagine is pretty incredible choreography. You can actually watch that scene here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=T61ufvuu5_Y It is dubbed in another language, though.

The shot in the car where Julian is killed is the other one (my personal favorite). It's 4 minutes long, starting from Theo waking up in the back seat and ending with the cops lying dead on the road. I'd be interested to see how they moved that camera around through the car while it was moving, because at the end of the shot you can see the entire car and it is intact.

^ Saw it tonight. Pretty good. Visit the wikipedia page on the movie to see how that scene was done. I think the uprising scene was "spliced" though, not sure.

I enjoyed this movie. Their depiction of how the refugees (Fugees???) are treated is pretty spot on with what most of redneck and loser america wants implemented today.

It was really good.

I wanted something a little different out of it, but the cinematography was great. Oh, and I thought it was interesting (and awesome) that they used the Threnody to the Victims of Hiroshima.

The main character is going to get a cup of coffee. You see the news broadcast on television saying that baby Diego died. He leaves the coffee shop and starts walking down the street when all of a sudden a bomb explodes in the coffee shop. You see this woman come out of the coffee shop screaming and she's missing an arm and holding the missing arm in her other hand.
