well, i know of the circumstance where you cannot buy subdomains of an already registered domain.
So you might think it's a great idea to register treetwista.google.com, but since google owns google.com, they tend to own all the subdomains as well.....


and yes, most typos of common URLs are bought, by squatters, advertisers, and most commonly by the actual company who owns the real domain.

basically, google.com is resolved to an IP address by a server different from the one that resolves images.google.com

and the latter is a server configured and controlled by google.

so you can't just pay for dumbdomain.google.com
